OFFICIAL JOB TITLE: Program Coordinator (Part-time position) DIVISION: Academic Affairs DEPARTMENT: SMAST/Fisheries Oceanography BARGAINING UNIT STATUS: ESU CAT: 12 FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Associate Professor/Fisheries Oceanography SUPERVISES: N/A SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School for Marine Science and Technology is developing a graduate certificate in Ocean Observing, Modeling, and Management of Offshore Wind to prepare leaders in the scientific workforce for offshore wind for assessing and managing the interactions of this emerging sector with the marine environment and other sectors. The program coordinator will be responsible for both program development and partner collaboration, including developing internships and industry support for the certificate program. In collaboration with a graduate student program fellow and the program steering committee, the coordinator will promote the certificate program, develop program materials, and coordinate program events and student outreach. The program coordinator will also work to develop a sustainable recruitment program for the certificate, ensuring that the program's desired target of prioritizing enrollment from frontline communities and historically excluded groups is achieved. This will include coordination with cross-campus cluster recruiting strategies to enhance visibility of opportunities and demonstrate the interdisciplinary approach to student training. The coordinator will also assist with other academic and researcher training programs within the School for Marine Science and Technology. The coordinator follows the University's best practices to build and/or support student academic success and retention and assist in meeting strategic objectives for persistence and timely graduation of all the student population.
