Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Kinesiology Department (https://kin.uncg.edu/) has 26 full-time faculty in the sub-disciplines of Applied Neuromechanics, Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Pedagogical Kinesiology, and Sports Medicine. The department is one of ten departments or programs in the School of Health and Human Sciences ( https://hhs.uncg.edu/) at UNCG. Kinesiology faculty have a history of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service, and the doctoral program was highly ranked in the most recent (2019, 2023) National Academy of Kinesiology national rankings of doctoral programs in kinesiology. The department is in a modern facility with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and access to extensive classroom space. Kinesiology is the 5th largest department at UNCG serving approximately 700 undergraduates and 175 graduate students. The department offers B.S., M.S., M.S.A.T., and Ph.D. degrees on campus, as well as an online Ed.D. and M.S. in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Position Summary
Applications are invited for a 9-month, tenure track (TT) faculty position in Exercise Physiology at the Assistant/Associate Level with a 100% appointment in the Department of Kinesiology.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of earned Ph.D. Degree in Exercise Physiology or related area.
  • Evidence of a focused line of research (assistant level) or a strong record of nationally recognized scholarship (associate level) with the potential for external funding and collaborative potential for interdisciplinary research with faculty in the Department of Kinesiology and the School of Health and Human Sciences.

Preferred Qualifications
Individuals with one or more of the following additional qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • Experience working with large data sets/secondary data analysis or machine learning approaches.
  • Experience in the assessment of biomarkers in disease prevention and control.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly activities.

  • ACSM-CEP or CSCS certification; expertise in neurophysiological techniques.
