Under the direction of the Director - Office of Student Conduct and Attendance, works closely with central and school leadership staff, students, families, and community stakeholders to identify and implement strategies for improving attendance and reducing chronic absenteeism in City Schools. Collaborates with relevant team members to develop, revise, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, strategies, and guidance related to attendance. Has a deep understanding of interdisciplinary indicators influencing student attendance and achievement, including social and economic factors and physical health and wellness. Ensures that services, operations, and outcomes comply with regulations, legal requirements, and court mandates, including all of those pertaining to students with disabilities and homeless students. Ensures the collection and maintenance of accurate and thorough documentation of services. Ensures the effective communication, coordination, and delivery of services to area and school-based administrators as well as parents, students and other local school systems. Essential Functions In close consultation with the Director of Office of Student and Attendance, the Executive Director of Student Wholeness, and other key leaders and stakeholders, the specialist plays a central role in developing a robust attendance strategy for the district that integrates the concepts of student wholeness and family/community engagement.
