Job Title: Supply Chain Manager

Job location: Newark, New Jersey

Purpose of the Role

  • Pursue service excellence, optimum productivity and effective use of team resources
  • Promote & monitor efficiency and productivity gains for Customers managed within the team
  • Provide team leadership and promote a spirit of teamwork
  • Allocate team resources effectively to ensure operational excellence and to motivate staff through effective leadership and career-pathing
  • Act as a point of contact and/or escalation for customers within team
  • Provide coaching concerning operational processes and excellence, internal tools, best practices and quality guidelines with the overall objective to constantly improve processes within the team in alignment with the overall Account Management team
  • Promote new functionality for current customers in conjunction with the Business Solutions, BD and IT Teams.

Key Accountabilities / Roles & Responsibilities / Tasks

Organizational & Personnel

  • Direct team in the completion of assignments through knowledge sharing
  • Provide direction and decision support to staff; Escalation contact for direct reports.
  • Manage staff training and development both on systems and process to promote operational excellence and staff development
  • Allocate and manage overall team resources including hiring, discipline and termination of tenure with support from Operations Senior Management
  • HR / staffing related issues including monitoring vacations and sick time and executing reviews for direct reports; Recognize and manage staff diversity, performance and or personality conflicts
  • Allocate time for 1:1's with direct reports (minimum every other week)
  • Ensure that relevant management information is disseminated amongst staff via regular staff briefings

Operational

  • Ensure operational and systemic compliance in line with customer and OMS requirements
  • Ensure regular customer contact is maintained and regular operations reviews are carried out. Direct Customer relationship with all customers within team.
  • Maintain Customer Relationships at Management level; Escalation contact for Customers assigned
  • Review, define / identify and implement new processes and areas of improvement for Customers that are assigned to the team to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Oversight to ensure timely SOP, Desk SOP and Data Entry instruction updates (direct reports responsible to update all Accounts at minimum twice a year)
  • Drive reporting improvements via multiple channels (report designer and BI) for continued report evolution. Work closely with direct reports on existing and new reports for continuous improvement. Leverage Team Super-User for team reporting needs including training. Support overall reporting as needed for the team while continuing to train and enhance skills of team members.
  • Monitor 315 high level performance for Accounts within the team. Work closely with direct reports on training for monitoring and issue resolution. Escalate continuous issues to IT and Management team for further review.
  • Ensure QBR's continue to evolve and that reporting is timely, organized and professional. Top 25 customers to either have monthly metric review sessions or QBRs (quarterly) - agreement with Management and Customer only for reduction to twice a year. For other accounts if QBRs not completed at minimum agreed upon metrics to be sent out on quarterly basis.
  • Assist in new account start-ups (if assigned to team) in conjunction with the Project Management & Implementation teams
  • Ensure all team members have access to customer rate schedule and are fully aware of how customers are invoiced and checks / audits are completed to ensure billing is done timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for oversight of team to ensure account receivables are actioned timely and feedback provided internally.
  • Ensure account records are maintained in a current and accurate state
  • Completion of ad hoc projects and/or tasks as needed and assigned by Management

Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrates a high level of commitment, very dynamic
  • Sensitive to urgency and able to work/keep focus under pressure
  • Ability to engage and lead discussions
  • Excellent understanding of Supply Chain Management, PO Management, 3PL / 4PL service types, finance, and processes
  • Assertive and able to influence others, team player, communication, presentation and training skills.
  • Knowledge of in-house application Infor Nexus and CW1
  • Strong analytical skills combined with a systematic problem solving approach
  • Highly organized, with the ability to utilize project management tools and practices
  • Competency in Microsoft office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
  • Experience with Power BI for reporting and analytics preferred
  • Cross-cultural competence

Qualifications and Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a relevant business or technical subject.
  • Master's Degree or equivalent in a relevant business or technical subject is a plus

Experience (Depth & Breadth)

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in supply chain and accomplishing work through others
  • 2-3 years minimum leadership experience
  • Increasingly progressive growth in levels of responsibility and scope
