  • Seasonal: This position is available from Mid-November to Late March, aligning with our winter ski and summer bike seasons. Seasonal work involves temporary employment tied to specific times of the year

Nestled nearly two miles out on the Cheat Mountain Ridge Trail sits the Sunrise Backcountry Hut. Beneath towering Spruce, the Hut offers a great dining alternative for those looking to 'get away from it all.' Experience in cooking isn't required but will help when it comes to this job, being able to work alone and handle a cabin in variable weather conditions is a must.

Job Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities:
  • Event Planning and Management: Organize and execute backcountry dinners and handle reservation needs.
  • Supply Procurement and Logistics: Purchase and transport food, linens, alcohol, and drinks; manage supplies and personnel in variable trail conditions.
  • Facility Maintenance: Shovel snow, clear walkways, perform basic hut maintenance (e.g., propane, water, food prep), and conduct generator upkeep.
  • Staff Oversight and Cleanup: Delegate tasks during meals, manage evening cleanup, and handle alcohol sales at events.


Hospitality and Guest Experience:
  • Exceptional Service: Create memorable backcountry dining experiences, provide excellent customer service, and address guest inquiries and concerns effectively.
  • Effective Communication: Engage with diverse guests using strong interpersonal skills.


Administrative Duties:
  • Administrative Support: Assist with tour scheduling, payment processing, and maintain accurate guest and tour records.


Environmental Awareness and Education:
  • Conservation and Education: Stay informed on local regulations and best practices in outdoor recreation; educate guests on environmental conservation.


Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED


Driving:

  • Have a valid Driver's license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program


Preferred Experience:

  • Cooking experience
  • Knowledge of safety practices, CPR/first aid certification
  • Familiarity with local geography, trails, and conservation principles.
  • May require lifting and moving up to 75 pounds.
