Seneca Federal Solutionshas an immediate need for several Level 1 & 2 Cable installers & maintainers. This role will support our government client and require up to 80-90% travel. Candidates can be based anywhere but will be expected to travel to work on-site as contract needs require. This position requires a government security clearance, and regular NCIC and SF-86 background investigations. To be eligible, candidates must be clearable.

The Level 1 & 2 Cable installers & maintainers will install and maintain all aspects of structured communication wiring and cable, facilities, and equipment, centralized and distributed telecommunications systems and all peripheral equipment.

The Level 1 & 2 Cable installers & maintainers will provide technical system support and capabilities including, but not limited to, installation, maintenance, modification and repair of cables, telecommunications equipment, products and/or systems. These technical systems may be electro-mechanical or computerized and are typically integrated with or are interconnected to larger systems. Incumbents typically perform work on-site, off-site, or at remote locations and can be expected to apply troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to determine appropriate restoration or repair actions.

Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Determines routing and placement of cabling, wiring, and fiber optics.
  • Performs physical installation of equipment and components (e.g. wiring, cabling, telephone instruments, microwave/satellite communication modules, necessary interface cards, modems, hubs, routers, multiplexors, equipment racks, etc.).
  • Responds to trouble reports, performs trouble shooting activities and repairs/replaces malfunctioning equipment and/or facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with building and electrical codes.
  • Documents and/or logs equipment/system installation and/or modification actions.
  • Assists in planning and implementing departmental telecommunications and/or facility layout changes.
  • installing, maintaining, and repairing cable infrastructure for our governmental and/or commercial customers in accordance of IEEE & BICSI standards and procedures
  • Troubleshoot cable problems and identify and resolve the root cause (Root Cause Analysis /RCA).
  • Provide customer service to resolve cable issues.
  • Inspect and test cable systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed.
  • Comply with all site and company mandated safety regulations.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Must be able to travel up to 80-90%of the time
  • Must possess a current, and valid, US State driving license.
  • Must be clearable, and able to pass a federal background investigation (this includes criminal and credit) all successful candidates must pass background check and drug screening in accordance with local laws.
  • Experience in cable installation and maintenance, including the following: CAT 5, CAT 6, coax, low voltage, data cabling, fiber optic, RG/RJ terminations, server racks, network equipment, access control, audio/visual, and/or phone systems.

    • 2+ years of experience for level 1, 3+ years of experience for level 2.


  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of cable, and cabling systems
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including heights and confined spaces.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying loads of up to 35-50 pounds.
  • Frequent climbing and working at heights
  • Knowledge of communications wiring standards and installation practices.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications switching and common control systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematic diagrams, and related documentation.
  • Must be able to use standard and specialized hand tools, crimpers, screwdrivers, cutters, pliers, and power tools as needed.
