Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, is accountable for overseeing and improving overall plant quality through the implementation of process quality systems, while ensuring all quality related issues are addressed to achieve maximum efficiency.

Job Duties:



  • Responsible for maintenance of plant quality systems including but not limited to inspection and test method, work instructions, procedures, product specifications, food safety compliance, and best practices.
  • Implement and uphold a controlled and defined quality process within the plant.
  • Develop and improve quality improvement methods, product quality standards, quality systems and programs plant wide.
  • Ensure all compliance, certification, and approval concerning agency regulations and industry standards (such as ISO/QS/TS, HACCP).
  • Create, maintain and communicate quality standards, policies, procedures, quality system, quality manual; as well as strategic plans and budgets relating to the area of quality.
  • Audit and work with suppliers to ensure their quality systems are proficient.
  • Key customer contact to maintain strong relationships, resolving quality issues, and ensuring technical and quality support.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality system adherence and all aspects of product integrity is maintained.
  • Responsible for disposition of finished product by analyzing and interpreting production and quality data; judging product acceptability relative to specifications.
  • Audit implementation of corrective actions for customer complaints and internal quality non-conformances.
  • Promote safety as paramount in importance in the operation.
  • Train all new team members or supply training materials/resources (GMPs, HACCP, food safety).
  • Conducts follow-up inspections when food safety reports arise.
  • Collects, investigates and resolves customer complaints.
  • Provide regular training in GMPs, HACCP, GFSI as required.
  • Controls and releases all hold products.
  • Develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives in plant quality / processes.
  • Maintains effective communication regarding quality of products by informing management in a timely manner.
  • Provides leadership for effective and quick problem resolutions working closely with human resources as necessary.
  • Informs direct reports constantly of all changes that impact their daily jobs.
  • Authority to make decisions and draw conclusions regarding the release or destruction of held production pieces.
  • Authority to stop work processes due to non-conformance of containers and/or unsafe working conditions.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.



Qualifications and Experience Requirements:



  • Associates Degree required, bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a manufacturing leadership role in Quality (Quality Engineer, Quality Supervisor, Quality Manager, or similar).
  • Possess strong analytical, computer, and communication skills.
  • Able to solve complex problems outside of normal processes.
  • Continuous improvement experience or Six Sigma experience (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experienced in interfacing with the customer as well as problem solving with the customer.
  • Some travel required.



Work Environment:

This role performs job duties in a manufacturing environment as well as in an office setting. This position will use computers, telephones, printers, as well as technical equipment on the manufacturing floor where machinery produces loud noises.
