Job Summary

Support international student success, by advising students on U.S. immigration policy compliance. Coordinate collaborative programming, services, and resource connections focused on the development of international students as they adjust to college life and engage with the college community. Serve as an experienced individual contributor within the department.


Essential Duties

Create, plan, and implement programming focused on the engagement of international students, coordinating as necessary with internal and external constituents.

Advise the international student organization to create a safe space for cross-cultural exchange and international student leadership development.

Serve as a Department of Homeland Security Designated School Official for the college.

Assist F1 student visa holders with filing for United States Citizenship and Immigration Services work authorizations.

Verify visas and immigration status for partner departments and provide professional guidance or advice on best practices for international students to a variety of constituents as requested.

Serve as an emergency contact for international students while in the U.S and traveling abroad.

Collaborate with ISS Office team members to compile and review institutional documentation required for continued authorization as a designated school through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Interact with and implement all U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services measures by detecting and reporting fraudulent or criminal activity and coordinating appropriate responses.

Collect, verify, and screen admission documents and issue Department of Homeland Security I-20s.

Maintain international student records to meet compliance requirements of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Represent the International Student Services Office in internal and external committees, meetings, and events, serving as an advocate for the needs of international students and the immigrant community at the college.

Serve as the point of contact for the department for students, staff, faculty, and administrators when the Director of International Student Services is unavailable.

Make modifications to processes to enhance the performance of the department as appropriate.

Create initial reports and analysis for review by more experienced professionals.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in International Studies, Public Administration, Counseling, Psychology, Human Relations, Social Work, or a related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

1 year in coordinating events, student engagement, and student leader development.

1 year with SEVIS and F-1 visa regulations, procedures, and reporting for international student advisement.

1 year experience in excellent communication, presentation, and intercultural skills.

Ability to work in an office environment exposed to moderate noise levels.

Ability to work for prolonged periods of time at a computer and move about facility on a regular basis.

Visual and hearing acuity.


Preferred Qualifications

Ability to translate Spanish.
