Overview
The Environmental Hub connects the Earth and Climate Sciences (ECS), Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning (UEP) departments, and Environmental Studies program. The Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning (UEP) has been a place where students, faculty, and the community work to turn vision into practice. UEP centers its mission around the intersection of planning, policy and social justice. We offer programs founded on an interdisciplinary approach focused on the intersection of urban, social, and environmental issues. In addition to our diverse course offerings, community practice and partnerships are integral to UEP. They represent a platform for engaged learning and research, enabling students and faculty to come together to develop innovative strategies for solving local and global challenges, and to build the pipeline of new policy and planning professionals. The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences (ECS) is an academic STEM department within the School of Arts and Sciences, with an undergraduate-only science program. The department teaches courses and conducts research in a variety of Earth and Climate Science related fields and contributes to the service efforts of the university as well as the larger scientific community. The Tufts Environmental Studies Program (ENVS), established in 1984, is one of the oldest interdisciplinary undergraduate programs in the country. ENVS prepares students to have a deep understanding of the critical issues facing society, essential analytical skills, and the ability to communicate their knowledge to their peers and the general public. Student interest in the ENVS program has significantly grown in the last decade, currently being one of the largest academic programs at Tufts that offers several academic degrees What You'll Do The Senior Department Administrator of the Environmental Hub serves as primary administrative contact and manages the Earth and Climate Sciences (ECS), Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning (UEP) departments, and Environmental Studies program.
