Position Summary

The Program of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full time, 9-month appointment at the rank of Lecturer III to begin August 2, 2027. The department seeks to hire a generalist in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Specifically, the department seeks a Lecturer III with knowledge and experience teaching in at least two of the department's undergraduate degree concentrations: feminist, queer, and/or trans studies and intersectional approaches to gender, sexuality, race, and other structures of difference and inequality, and is open to various theoretical and methodological approaches. Graduate teaching is a possibility, depending on the Lecturer's areas of specialty and department need.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to teach required upper division undergraduate courses in Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies (WGSS), as well as other undergraduate and graduate courses in the field in accordance with the program's needs. The faculty member will contribute to the program's core curriculum, including courses in feminist, trans, queer, and intersectional theories and methods, while also developing courses in their areas of specialization. The ability to teach across multiple areas of the WGSS curriculum and to contribute to both introductory and advanced courses is especially desirable. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute through their teaching and service. Advising graduate students in WGSS and related interdisciplinary areas is an expectation. Workload is determined by the program Director and University policies.
