Leading with Accuracy, Insight, and Financial Excellence.

Ashurst Perkins Coie US LLP is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the day-to-day management of the firm's General Ledger, Partner and Affiliate Accounting, Treasury, and International Accounting functions in the US. Reporting to the Regional Head of Finance - US, this role oversees the monthly and annual close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, audit and tax deliverables, and core compliance activities while leading and developing the General Ledger team. As a hands-on leader, you'll combine technical accounting expertise with team leadership, financial analysis, and process improvement to deliver timely, accurate, and meaningful financial information to the firm's leadership, partners, external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.

This is a working manager role that requires both strategic oversight and direct involvement in complex accounting activities. The Accounting Manager will serve as the designated backup to the Regional Head of Finance - US for accounting operations, with the opportunity to assume broader leadership responsibilities and develop toward future senior finance leadership.

This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and Develop the Accounting Team: Manage, coach, and develop the General Ledger team by setting priorities, assigning and reviewing work, providing feedback, conducting performance reviews, and promoting accountability, cross-training, and professional growth.
  • Oversee General Ledger and Financial Close: Own the monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring journal entries, account reconciliations, overhead allocations, and financial reporting are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Manage Financial Analysis and Reporting: Perform complex account analyses and reconciliations, review adjusting entries, oversee fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules, and prepare management reports that support the firm's leadership and committee decision-making.
  • Oversee Audit, Tax, and Compliance Activities: Coordinate annual financial statement audits, GAAP reviews, tax preparation, regulatory filings, and compliance requirements in partnership with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal teams.
  • Manage Partner and Affiliate Accounting: Oversee professional corporation accounting, partner capital and shareholder loan accounts, partner payroll and capital calls, contract-partner payments, departing partner calculations, and related tax reporting.
  • Direct Treasury and Cash Management: Manage daily cash activities, cash projections, borrowing activity, banking relationships, bank account administration, and required banking documentation.
  • Maintain Financial Systems and Controls: Administer the firm's 3E General Ledger and serve as system administrator for BlackLine and BNA, ensuring accurate financial records and effective accounting controls.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting procedures, systems, controls, and workflows to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Support Senior Finance Leadership: Serve as the Regional Head of Finance - US's designated backup for accounting operations, progressively assuming broader responsibilities as part of the firm's leadership development and succession planning.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills, including the ability to direct workflow, develop accounting professionals, and hold team members accountable for quality and deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, tax-basis accounting, general accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting controls.
  • Advanced financial analysis, problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and apply regulations and guidelines to a variety of situations.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing demands while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with the firm's partners, leadership, colleagues, external accounting firms, and banking partners.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with computerized accounting systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining a service-oriented approach and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role leading accounting professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Law firm or professional services experience, particularly with partnership accounting, partner capital, professional corporations, K-1s, and partner compensation processes.
  • Experience with 3E, BlackLine, BNA, and Workday.
  • Experience managing multi-entity and international affiliate accounting, treasury operations, and banking relationships.
  • Public accounting or external audit experience.
  • Experience supporting mergers, integrations, system implementations, or system conversions.
  • Demonstrated success in developing team members, strengthening accounting functions, and building succession capabilities.
  • A CPA certification.
