We are seeking a Junior DevSecOps / CI/CD Engineer to support the development, automation, and maintenance of secure software delivery pipelines for a mission-critical enterprise platform supporting an Intelligence Community customer. The platform provides developers and mission teams with a standardized environment across multiple classified enclaves, leveraging a zero trust, hub-and-spoke architecture.

In this role, you will help maintain and improve the automated processes that move software from development through testing and deployment. You will work alongside experienced DevSecOps engineers, platform engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and integration and test teams to support reliable software delivery, integrate security into development workflows, and maintain the pipeline documentation and evidence needed to support continuous authorization.

Pipeline Development and Maintenance

Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or similar technologies.

• Support automated software builds, packaging, artifact management, testing, and deployments to containerized environments.

• Use Git for source control, branching strategies, version management, and collaboration across development teams.

• Maintain and extend reusable pipeline templates and automation scripts under the guidance of senior engineers.

• Assist with pipeline configuration and deployment automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar technologies.

Security Integration and Compliance

• Configure and maintain automated security scanning within CI/CD pipelines, including static and dynamic application security testing, software composition analysis, container image scanning, and secrets detection.

• Assist with maintaining hardened container base images and approved artifact repositories.

• Generate, collect, and maintain software bills of materials (SBOMs), scan results, and pipeline evidence supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) authorization and continuous Authorization to Operate (cATO).

• Follow established security procedures for artifact promotion and deployment across environments, including classified environments where applicable.

• Support cybersecurity and compliance teams in documenting pipeline controls and resolving identified findings.

Operations and Continuous Improvement

• Monitor pipeline execution and troubleshoot build, test, and deployment failures.

• Assist with identifying performance issues, recurring failures, and opportunities to improve pipeline reliability.

• Support release planning and coordinate deployment activities with integration, test, platform, and operations teams.

• Maintain technical documentation, pipeline instructions, and troubleshooting procedures.

• Help development teams adopt established DevSecOps practices and standardized delivery workflows.

Location: This position is fully onsite in Chantilly, VA.

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, plus 3+ years of relevant experience; additional 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

• Hands-on experience building, maintaining, or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines in a production environment.

• Experience working with containers and container orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, or similar technologies.

• Experience integrating or maintaining automated security scanning tools within software development or delivery workflows.

• Proficiency with Git and at least one scripting language, such as Bash or Python.

• Working knowledge of infrastructure as code and deployment automation tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.

• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, or the ability to obtain the required certification within the applicable timeframe.

• Experience supporting software delivery across multiple classified enclaves or disconnected environments.

• Familiarity with DoD or Intelligence Community software factory practices, hardened container image programs, or continuous ATO processes.

• Familiarity with zero trust architecture and policy-as-code tools, such as OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno.

• Experience with artifact repositories, such as Artifactory, Nexus, or Harbor, and code quality tools, such as SonarQube.

• Familiarity with observability tools used to monitor pipelines and deployed services.

• Kubernetes certification, such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS, and/or a cloud professional certification.

• Prior experience supporting Intelligence Community or DoD mission programs.
