What you'll be doing...

The Verizon Business Communications team is seeking a seasoned, media-savvy communications strategist to drive internal and external storytelling for our Product & Marketing organization. In this high-impact role, you will lead comms for one of the most strategic focus areas across Verizon Business, getting in on the ground floor to shape the narrative and launch strategy for flagship innovations like Verizon AI Connect. You are a natural storyteller and B2B expert who excels at building long-term media relationships, converting complex product roadmaps into compelling press coverage, and acting as a trusted advisor to product leaders.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Planning & Campaign Architecture: Developing and executing comprehensive, integrated communication strategies for key B2B product launches, marketing initiatives, and commercially critical strategies like Verizon AI Connect.

  • Earned Media Strategy & Reputation Execution: Driving aggressive, proactive media relations; leveraging deep journalist relationships across business, tech, and enterprise trade outlets to position Verizon Business as a market leader.

  • Executive Communications & Leadership Counsel: Acting as a strategic communications partner to senior leaders, providing message discipline, briefing materials, and executive positioning for media appearances and industry keynotes.

  • Strategic Writing & Message Governance: Building and maintaining disciplined narrative architecture, including message maps, proof points, Q&As, and thought leadership to ensure consistent messaging across internal, external, and partner channels.

  • Measurement, Insights & Operations: Tracking campaign sentiment, evaluate earned media reach, and utilize performance metrics to optimize comms strategies continuously.

  • Crisis & Issues Management: Managing rapid-response messaging and safeguard brand equity in fast-moving, competitive tech landscapes.

  • Team & Matrix Leadership: Directing agency partners, collaborate with cross-functional marketing and product teams, and guide project workstreams with agility and strategic clarity.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training

  • Experience in external B2B corporate communications, executive communications, or agency settings.

  • Exceptional track record in B2B media relations, narrative building, and placing high-profile business/tech stories.

  • Demonstrated experience acting as a strategic communications partner to senior executives within a complex, matrixed organization.

  • Proven ability to build comms programs from the ground up and translate complex tech concepts (AI, enterprise software, network solutions) into accessible stories.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's Degree.

  • Experience across B2B technology and/or telecommunications sectors.

  • Deep network of established relationships with national business, tech, and industry journalists.

  • Experience managing PR agencies and multidisciplinary product comms launches.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $125,500.00 - $219,000.00.
