Tyler Technologies is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join the Priority Based Budgeting engineering organization.

You will lead a team of software engineers responsible for evolving Tyler's Priority Based Budgeting platform, helping local governments and public sector organizations make data-driven budgeting decisions that directly impact their communities.

This role includes leadership responsibility for engineering resources across multiple geographic locations, requiring strong communication, coordination, and team-building skills.

You will partner closely with product management, architecture, and peer engineering teams to deliver high-quality software that serves Priority Based Budgeting customers across the country. Hybrid Work Policy: This position requires the candidate to be in the Yarmouth, ME office at least 3 days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of software engineers responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving the Priority Based Budgeting platform on a modern AWS-native architecture.
  • Build and maintain a cohesive engineering culture across distributed teams by promoting communication, trust, accountability, and shared ownership of outcomes.
  • Partner with product management, architecture, platform operations, and support to align development priorities with business goals and customer outcomes.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop engineers through regular one-on-ones, performance evaluations, and career growth planning; foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
  • Drive adoption of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices to improve delivery velocity, quality, and operational reliability across the software development lifecycle.
  • Balance roadmap execution with operational escalations; work with engineering peers to prioritize effectively and protect team capacity without sacrificing responsiveness to production issues.
  • Establish accountability for application reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence, ensuring teams proactively monitor and improve service health.
  • Encourage adoption of modern software engineering practices, including AI-assisted development tools, automation, observability, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Define and track engineering metrics and KPIs related to delivery predictability, quality, reliability, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction; leverage data to identify trends, remove bottlenecks, and improve team performance.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Priority Based Budgeting products and underlying platforms, including cloud modernization efforts.
  • Champion process improvement initiatives across the team, including tooling enhancements, internal education programs, and engineering best practices.
