Company Description

McWane, LLC is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented General Manager to provide overall leadership and strategic direction for its Tyler Pipe site. The General Manager is responsible for developing and executing the business and operational strategy to achieve organizational objectives in safety, environmental performance, quality, operating cost, delivery, productivity, customer service, growth, and morale.

This role has overall accountability for the performance of the Tyler Pipe business and leads the senior management team across key functions. The General Manager establishes clear priorities and performance expectations, builds organizational capability, and creates a culture of accountability, employee involvement, and continuous improvement while aligning site capabilities with customer requirements and McWane business objectives.

Job Description
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the facility by establishing business objectives, driving operational performance, and ensuring achievement of safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, customer service, and financial goals.
  • Maintain accountability for operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, structured problem solving, and effective performance management processes.
  • Align manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, supply chain, inventory, logistics, and workforce resources with customer demand, business priorities, and long-term growth strategies.
  • Lead development and execution of operating and capital budgets, productivity initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and strategic investments to improve profitability and sustainable business performance.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, corporate leadership, and other key stakeholders while partnering with commercial teams to support customer satisfaction and business growth.
  • Develop organizational capability through workforce planning, coaching, succession planning, employee engagement, and fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, respect, communication, and effective labor relations.
  • Lead strategic and cross-functional initiatives related to capacity expansion, capital investments, technology advancement, process improvement, organizational development, and business growth.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support business objectives and company goals.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline required, or an equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a world-class or heavy industrial manufacturing environment, including at least 5 years in senior supervisory, functional, plant, or business leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, customer service, and overall operating performance.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or comparable operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience leading large-scale industrial manufacturing operations strongly preferred; metal manufacturing, foundry operations, fabrication, machining, or related heavy industrial process experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with represented employees and managing labor relations in a union environment preferred.

  • Managerial courage and change-leadership capability to challenge the status quo and implement improvements as needed.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, coaching, and mentoring abilities; a team builder with a bias toward action and accountability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with logic and fact-based decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing economics, budgeting, capital planning, operational tradeoffs, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, lead multiple functional disciplines, and work in a union environment.
