Description

Markon is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Safety and Health organization at the Kesselring site. This position will conduct and document industrial hygiene exposure assessments across site processes, combining field surveillance, workforce interviews, procedure and data reviews, environmental sampling, and professional judgment to identify and evaluate potential workplace health hazards.

NOTE: This position is 100% onsite at the Kesselring location and requires work within an industrial and nuclear facility environment.



Responsibilities

    Conduct and document industrial hygiene exposure assessments as part of comprehensive assessments of site processes.
  • Perform field surveillance activities to identify and evaluate potential workplace health hazards.
  • Conduct workforce interviews in support of industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Review established procedures and existing industrial hygiene data.
  • Perform industrial hygiene sampling and interpret sampling results.
  • Conduct sampling and exposure assessments for potential hazards, including:
    • Asbestos.
    • Silica.
    • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
    • Welding fumes.
    • Noise dosimetry.
    • Area noise.
  • Utilize and calibrate industrial hygiene sampling equipment.
  • Assist with general industrial hygiene activities across the site.
  • Apply professional judgment when supporting industrial hygiene exposure determinations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams in support of industrial hygiene and safety activities.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science or bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial hygiene, including sampling and calibration of industrial hygiene equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and teaming skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have full mobility upon reporting to the position.
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders.
  • Ability to work within an industrial environment.
  • Must have unrestricted access to a nuclear facility.

Desired:

  • An active DOE L clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or bachelor's degree in a science-related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processes, or other industrial process facilities.
  • Familiarity with the industrial hygiene exposure assessment process.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling techniques.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety and health requirements.
  • Good working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.


Salary Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $127,000.00 /Yr.

The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
