Position Summary:
The AES Project Manager and Quoting Specialist is a dual-function role responsible for both quoting/estimating and end-to-end project management of Caterpillar electric power generation solutions -- including generator controls, transfer switches, switchgear, and ancillary equipment. On the quoting side, this position serves as the lead estimator for the Advanced Electrical Services (AES) portion of the Electric Power Product Support sales team: reviewing bid documents, specification reviews, one-line wiring diagrams, structuring quotes, and compiling the technical documentation required to win business. On the project management side, this position coordinates all associated project personnel, technical tasks, and materials to ensure the successful delivery and start-up of the equipment sold.

Effective time management, keen attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and a constant desire to improve are essential for success. This position also develops and conducts training programs to educate customers and Fabick employees about power systems AES products.

Responsibilities:


  • Serve as the lead quoter/estimator for the AES Electric Power Product Support sales team -- support Product Support Sales Representatives with project quoting, quote structuring, and document compilation.
  • Review construction documents, wiring diagrams, sequence of operations and specifications to quote equipment that meets project requirements.
  • Support customers and prospects by providing technical information, literature, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and by exhibiting knowledge of Caterpillar products and solutions.
  • Keep accurate records of activities, customer interactions, quote status and project progress within the CRM system.
  • Perform market analysis to determine the competitive landscape and maintain current knowledge of the Electric Power Generation industry and technologies.
  • Arrange for all rental equipment to be onsite to support ongoing projects.
  • Order, track, document and bill all parts, supplies, and equipment on the proper work order.
  • Communicate effectively with the PSSR, Field Engineers, Technicians and Customers associated with the project or service provided.
  • Understand all aspects of the equipment we service and provide insight on AES services we provide.
  • Obtain the training and technical expertise to evaluate and suggest project specific components as required to compile a accurate quote, submittal and performance of services provided.

Requirements
Education Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field is required, or equivalent years of technical experience.
    Experience
  • 2 years of experience in project management is required.
  • 1--3 years of training experience required, preferably in power distribution, power generation, or controls.
  • Industry-related and/or sales experience (quoting, estimating, inside sales) strongly preferred.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Technical knowledge of diesel/gaseous-fueled engines, electrical power generation, power distribution, engine-generator sets, system integration design, assembly, installation, commissioning, operation, switchgear, transfer switches, fuel systems, exhaust systems, enclosures, and ancillary equipment preferred.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, schematic wiring diagrams, and blueprints for accurate quoting and project execution.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational and negotiation skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other business software applications; strong CRM proficiency.
  • High proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Acceptable driving record and valid driver's license required.


Physical Demands & Work Environment


  • Primary work is performed in an office or service facility environment with frequent communication by phone and computer.
  • Tasks involve sitting for extended periods, using hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone, and reaching with arms.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching and kneeling may be required, especially when verifying equipment status in the yard or assisting with parts logistics.
  • Employees are regularly required to talk and hear to communicate with technicians and customers; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., moving parts or equipment files) and safely handle heavier loads up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary.
  • Work may occasionally involve exposure to a warehouse or outdoor environment with moderate noise and varying weather conditions; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) should be used as required.
