The Senior Manager will assist in developing trading talent, translate volatile market conditions into practical business decisions, and help align decision rights across the physical coffee system to improve execution speed, manage trade-offs deliberately, and drive stronger financial outcomes for the enterprise.

  • Develop and execute origin, supplier, and portfolio strategies that strengthen supply resilience, improve competitiveness, and create sustainable long-term value.

  • Monitor commodity markets, differentials, currencies, crop conditions, export flows, logistics, regulation, supplier dynamics, and emerging risks; translate these inputs into clear recommendations and actions.

  • Lead commercial execution including supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, position management, exposure awareness, performance management, issue resolution, and escalation within established governance and approval authorities.

  • Provide leadership-ready market perspectives, sourcing recommendations, risk assessments, scenarios, and trade-off decisions that support business planning and financial outcomes.

  • Build and maintain relationships with cooperatives, exporters, importers, dealers, brokers, and other strategic partners across key coffee origins.

  • Identify and advance origin development, supplier capability, diversification, and business continuity opportunities, including contingency plans for market, quality, logistics, regulatory, or geopolitical disruption.

  • Partner with Planning, Execution, Operations, Quality, Research and Development, Sustainability, Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Legal, and Risk teams to align demand, supply, inventory, quality, and financial objectives.

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving supply assurance, cost savings, working capital, quality resolution, innovation, compliance, supplier development, and process improvement.

  • Lead, coach, and develop Green Coffee trading talent; establish clear accountabilities, create intentional role overlap, and strengthen succession readiness and organizational depth.

  • Create standard work, documentation, market intelligence routines, governance, and performance measures that improve decision quality, execution discipline, and continuity across the Green Coffee organization.

  • Demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, proactive risk management, and an enterprise mindset while operating in a highly volatile global commodity environment.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, finance, economics, agriculture, food science, or a related field.

  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in commodity trading, commodity purchasing, strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, finance, or a related commercial discipline.

  • Experience leading complex supplier portfolios, negotiations, sourcing decisions, and cross-functional initiatives in a global supply environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret commodity market, financial, supply, quality, regulatory, logistics, and operational inputs and convert them into sound business decisions.

  • Experience leading, coaching, or developing others, with the ability to set clear expectations and build organizational capability.

  • Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, stakeholder management, and execution skills.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

  • Deep coffee industry knowledge, including experience with green coffee origins, suppliers, physical trading, quality considerations, and global logistics.

  • Prior consumer packaged goods or food and beverage experience.

  • Experience with commodity risk management, budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and executive-level decision support.

  • Master of Business Administration or an advanced degree in business, supply chain, finance, economics, sustainability, food science, agriculture, or a quantitative field.

  • Experience building supplier capability, origin strategies, business continuity plans, and cross-functional operating processes.

  • Ability to influence outcomes across functions and external partners without relying solely on direct authority.

  • Comfort operating with urgency and discipline while navigating ambiguity, market volatility, and competing business priorities.
