Job Description

The Press Brake Operator supports and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and strives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in all areas of responsibility, satisfies customer requirements of quality, quantity and delivery in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity, and sets up and/ or operates power-press brake machine to bend, form, or straighten material as specified by work order and customer requirements.

Qualifications



  • Verifies job specification and coil through appropriate computer system
  • Starts machine and adjust blade and controls using wrenches, rule, gauge or template and monitors operation
  • Tests and adjusts cutting speed and action, according to specified length of product using gauges and hand tools
  • Measures material and verifies dimensions and weight using micrometer, template, straightedge and scale
  • Inspects material for defects
  • Hand forms, cuts or finishes material using tools such as table saw, hand sledge and anvil, flaring tool and gauge
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures, reporting all safety concerns immediately to supervision
  • Responsible for the proper care and use of all tools and equipment in the work center
  • Performs quality checks as required and participates in preventative actions where appropriate
  • Understands overview of QS-9000 Quality Management System and documents architecture Complies with all ISO procedures for the respective position/workstation
  • Reports all maintenance issues to supervision promptly
  • Understands and can explain the company's Quality Policy, job description and required tasks and explain how this position impacts customer satisfaction and contributes to fulfilling Quality Policy
  • Conducts housekeeping for personal work area and shared facility space Maintains a clean and safe working area
  • Participates and fulfills the requirements of scheduled training and educational programs as identified for this position
  • Participates as requested for independent objective auditing activity and supports continuous improvement activities
  • May perform daily, weekly, and other routine maintenance and housekeeping on machines and equipment in work area
  • Communicates effectively with all employees, particularly those in similar production support roles
  • Works cooperatively with all warehouse employees to maximize smooth and efficient job continuation across shifts
  • May work at different workstations as production needs require
