Purpose:

We are currently seeking a Principal Instrumentation Controls Systems Engineer to join our Worley team in Monrovia, CA. As a part of the team, your core responsibility will be to provide detailed Instrumentation Controls Systems engineering design and support the project team from a technical perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • You will provide instrumentation and controls system engineering services on medium, large, or mega projects to Worley' and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the instrumentation and controls engineering team.
  • Ensure all engineering and design work performed meets quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner.
  • Ensure all design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the client, or to agreed industry standards.
  • Perform designing/engineering work/deliverables as part of the Instrumentation & Controls team.
  • Ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Coordinate/Communicate with other disciplines and the client.
  • Quality Assurance - Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Worley Quality Assurance system.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
  • If required, assist and support junior personnel within the instrumentation & controls engineering team.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in instrumentation & controls engineering.
  • If required, function as instrumentation & controls engineering Lead on specific projects.
  • If required, provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.

What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Instrumentation & Control deliverables such as:
    • Panel (JB and Marshalling) Design.
    • P&ID's.
    • Loop Drawings.
    • Wiring Drawings.
    • Motor Control Schematics.
    • Instrument Location Drawings.
    • Instrument Installation Details.
    • Instrument Specifications (Datasheets).
    • I/O Lists.
    • Bill of Materials.
    • Conduit/Cable Tray/Cable Schedules.
    • Control Narratives and Strategies, algorithms.
    • Develop and implement control logic (in PLCs, DCS, other software).
    • Hardware and software integration for process control automation.
    • Cause and Effect Diagrams / SIF List and consequences.
    • Material Requisitions.
  • Construction or Engineering Work Packages. Working knowledge of Instrumentation Calculation/Selection, such as:
    • Flow (Orifice Plates, Vortex, Venturi, Magnetic, Ultrasonic meters).
    • Level Measurement (Radar, Displacers, Gauges).
    • Temperature (including Thermowells Freq. wake calculation).
    • Pressure.
    • Process Analyzers and sampling systems would be a plus.
    • Competent use of instrument calculation/selection specific software.
  • Working knowledge (design/configuration/implementation) of the following systems:
    • PLCs, SIS, DCS, CCS, VMS/CMS, Historian, IAMS, Alarm Management System, Training / Operator Straining Simulator, Wireless System, and IOT Network design from reputable vendor / manufacturer.
    • HMI, SCADA, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity.
    • Working knowledge of industry standards and codes related to Instrumentation & Control system deliverables.
    • Being able to work with multiple and concurrently small and medium projects.
    • Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design software.
    • Working knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) software, Flowmeter calculation/ sizing, and control valve sizing calculation.
    • Working knowledge (design/implementation) of Communication Networks is a plus.
    • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) software training (including wiring module) is a plus.
  • ARAMCO Experience: Well versed and experienced with ARAMCO SAES standards.
  • Knowledgeable in Refinery, Gas Compression and Gas processing facilities.

Additional Information:

  • This role is based in the Monrovia CA Worley office locations and not eligible to support remotely.
  • May be required to travel to the vendors facilities.
  • Salary Range $160,079-$235,411.
  • Benefits: eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Accredited Engineering Degree in General Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or related equivalent degree combined experience Typically, twelve years' experience.

Preferred:

  • 12+ years of direct Instrumentation & Controls System design and engineering experience.
  • Registered PE in Control Systems is preferred or ability to obtain license.
  • Functional Safey Engineer (FSE) certification.
  • Oil and Gas industry experience.
  • Water treatment, power generation, data centers.
  • Saudi Aramco experience.
