Position Summary

The Senior Server Engineer is dedicated to architecting and sustaining high-performance, low-maintenance, and highly available server platforms that support critical business operations. This role involves hands-on management and optimization of the company's server infrastructure, providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.

Key responsibilities include leading complex IT projects, performing comprehensive system analyses, and overseeing the full lifecycle of business-critical IT systems. This role involves close collaboration with Group and Division leadership, subject matter experts, and third-party vendors to guarantee solutions are aligned with organizational objectives and adhere to industry best practices.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions


  • Infrastructure & Systems Integration: Administer and integrate client/server operating systems and enterprise infrastructure in secure, multi-tier environments, ensuring availability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Network & Cisco Support: Apply core networking principles (VLANs, routing/subnetting, DNS/DHCP, NAT, MTU, QoS, firewall concepts) to support server, virtualization, and application connectivity. Perform basic-intermediate Cisco switch/router configuration and troubleshooting (interfaces, VLANs/trunks, port-channels, STP, routing basics, ACLs); partner with Network Engineering on complex changes.
  • System Analysis & Recommendations: Conduct system analyses to identify technology/process gaps, assess risk/impact, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Technology Implementation: Assist in the design, deployment, and operationalization of new technologies and services; communicate milestones, risks, and closure updates to stakeholders.
  • Project Leadership: Lead or co-lead complex IT initiatives, coordinating across teams to deliver outcomes aligned to scope, schedule, and business objectives.
  • Vendor Coordination: Act as a primary technical point of contact for third-party vendors, managing expectations, deliverables, and escalations.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide hands-on guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to strengthen team capability and consistency of execution.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews; implement process improvements and automation to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate effectively with IT teams and business partners; communicate decisions, priorities, and recommendations clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Customer Service & Availability: Maintain a strong customer-service mindset; travel as needed and provide after-hours support to meet operational requirements.

Education / Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related area (or international equivalent)

  • 4 + years related IT experience

  • Experienced in managing Dell VxRail, Nutanix, and comparable hyper-converged infrastructure platforms.

  • Proficient in managing and optimizing virtual machine environments utilizing vSphere and VMware.

  • Experienced in managing Microsoft Azure workloads and optimization.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Cisco network environments, with solid routing/switching fundamentals impacting server, virtualization, and cloud connectivity.
  • Experienced in using ServiceNow for ticket, change, problem management, and escalation.
  • Proficient with MS Office 365 application suite and tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated leadership aptitude, learning agility, and adaptability.
  • Proven experience in leading IT projects and managing cross-functional teams.

Qualifications Preferred
  • Proficient in using orchestration and automation tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

  • Familiar with third-party IT service providers and effective vendor management practices.

  • Certifications from leading server vendors such as Dell, HP, or Cisco are highly desirable.

  • Experience with open-source tools like GIT and Ansible.
