Principal Mechanical Engineer

Long Beach or Monrovia, California

Purpose:

Join Worley's Monrovia or Long Beach office as a Principal Process Engineer within the Materials Handling Engineering Group, where you'll provide technical and leadership excellence across multidisciplinary projects. In this role, you'll lead project execution and discipline deliverables, ensuring alignment with company and client procedures while driving continuous improvement in work processes. You'll develop innovative technical solutions to complex engineering challenges, oversee and mentor a team of engineers, and support the successful delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will work within a team framework of other disciplines and will understand the broad organizational implications of the work being performed.
  • Will be updating schedules and progress reports.
  • May be asked to generate budgets for new work.
  • Will be interfacing with Project Management and the Customers regularly.
  • Will be required to develop/check specifications, data sheets, technical bids, purchase orders, resolve technical queries from vendorson various Compressor and Pump equipment, able to coordinate project requirements with other disciplines, project staff and clients.
  • Will be required to maintain quality deliverables throughout the procurement of the equipment.
  • Will be required to support work share activities with overseas offices onRotating Equipmentdeliverables.
  • Will be required to develop/support hour estimation, TIC estimates, deliverable requirements and personnel loading for theRotating Engineeringscope of the project.
  • Able to support or fill in for the Mechanical lead as requested.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted office procedures.
  • Typically, there is a minimum of8 years of Materials Handling Engineering experience in Petroleum-Chemical and/or Mining Industries.
  • 5 years in other Mechanical equipment or packaged equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Emphasis on reciprocating compressor experience, with working knowledge of API 617, 614, 670 and 671.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of API, ANSI, NEMA, ASTM specifications.

Additional Information:

  • Positions located is in Monrovia or Long Beach, CA, Worley office location.
  • May berequired to travel to the vendors facilities.
  • Salary Range $146,187-$214,980 commensurate with experience and level of position.
  • Benefits: Eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • At least 15 years in petrochemical and refining with project design, execution, construction.

  • On-site and/or in-refinery experience.

  • Oil and Gas experience.

  • Additional experience in the Power industry, Carbon Capture, or Arctic environment is valued.
