Position Title: Scientist

Work Location: Irvine, CA 92612

Assignment Duration: 12 Months (possible extension-performance based)

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Position Summary: The Irvine team has been working for approximately four years on developing over-the-counter eye care products. The products being developed are eye drops, including solutions, emulsions, and suspensions.

Background & Context: The team has been working for approximately four years on developing over-the-counter eye care products at our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

* This is a lab-based position. The selected candidate is expected to spend most of their time in the lab and work both independently and with other members of the team.

* The role supports product development involving polymer science, polymer-solution characterization, physical and chemical characterization of solutions, stability studies, emulsion formulation development, and independent laboratory execution.

* The team is also looking for support with process development, scale-up, and transferring manufacturing processes from the laboratory to a commercial manufacturing site.

* Relevant manufacturing unit operations include filtration, heat sterilization, and other sterilization methods.

Qualification & Experience:

* Experience with the principles of polymer science.

* Hands-on characterization experience with polymer solutions, including viscosity, rheology, and molecular weight.

* Experience with standard physical and chemical characterization of solutions, including pH, osmolality, turbidity, and other physical properties. * Experience in pharmaceutical or consumer product development.

* Experience designing and executing stability studies toward developing new products.

* Understanding of emulsion principles and ability to help design emulsion formulations.

* Ability to independently execute laboratory work.

* Ideally, experience with process development, scale-up, and transferring manufacturing processes from the lab to a commercial manufacturing site.

* Familiarity with manufacturing unit operations, particularly filtration, heat sterilization, and other sterilization methods.

* Enthusiasm to learn and ability to work independently and with other team members. * Three to five years of experience preferred with a Bachelor's degree.

* Ideally, the candidate would not have a PhD and would have less than 10 years of experience.
