Viasat's Government business is poised for significant growth in the coming years, bringing mission-critical connectivity solutions to our warfighters across the battlespace. Our solutions serve user groups and market segments across all services as well as within the intelligence and international government communities. As a Technical Product Manager (TPdM), you will be responsible for aggregating user needs and customer requests across domains, translating them into a consolidated set of product requirements and roadmap to guide the engineering teams in product development.

The TPdM role involves interfacing with stakeholders to include business product and program managers, engineering leads, and customers to understand the product vision and business roadmap/s and market requirements. The TPdM must also work with engineering teams to execute the vision by establishing the technical product requirements and timeline. This requires an affinity for thinking about users, use cases, and value propositions as well as a technical understanding of the underlying infrastructure (primarily cloud architectures and networking) required to support the product. An innate ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and market environments is also essential.

• 8+ years of experience in product development of networking products and applications

• Ability to understand and develop technical product requirements including those related to performance, security, and customer experience

• Understand the needs of the end users and work with engineering teams to ensure that the implementations meet the spirit of the requirement

• Develop and pursue a perspective on what makes the most sense for the technical implementation

• Own the hardware and software product and platform success from early definition through the entire product lifecycle, including through maturity and ultimately End-of-Life.

• Bring together the engineering product team of all essential functions (e.g. business, engineering, operations) and ensure a shared product vision and group work for product success.

• Prepare presentation materials to educate others on the technical approach and timelines

• Provide product status visibility to stakeholders through regular product reviews

• Develop and maintain product roadmaps, working across engineering teams and the business to prioritize and scope new features, tech debt, efficiency improvements, technology alignment with adjacent products, sustainment efforts, etc

• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Top Secret Clearance.

• Understanding of agile software development processes

• Understanding of DoW CONOPs, users, and operating environments

• Familiarity with user experience research and design best practices and willingness to perform user experience research

• Understanding and representing the 'voice of the customer' on the engineering team

• Facilitate discussions with engineering and business teams on design tradeoffs

• Work with business counterparts to determine and deconflict backlog priorities
