As Manufacturing Engineer in the Cleveland facility, you are responsible for providing engineering support to production processes within the plant by focusing on root cause analysis and preventative measures. Your scope will include sub-standard outputs, products that do not meet standards, and processes that need efficiency gains within manufacturing. Your responsibility takes on many forms and requires interaction with a multitude of different departments including technical, maintenance, planning, QA, RM procurement, and IT. You will interact with the operators and supervisors in each building. You will report to the assistant operations manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate abnormalities in operations, discover root causes, and provide framework for preventative measures to department owners.
  • Drive corrective actions and change initiatives to completion
  • Engineer re-work streams for non-conforming products
  • Analyze and audit operational data to recognize trends in adherence to standards. Use this data to drive down demonstrated cycle times.
  • Identify the need for and request standard or formula changes to optimize processes.
  • Perform Process Optimizations including the implementation of associated projects, including CapEx projects
  • Participate in and support department related Kaizen events
  • Troubleshoot Process/Product Related Issues - will likely involve some evening or weekend flex support
  • Execute/Improve Root Cause Investigation Process & Implement Meaningful Corrective Actions
  • Develop Standard Work and Assist with Operator Training, including leading training for the implementation of new processes and procedures
  • Support day-to-day operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • This position requires focus on manufacturing processes, processing experience preferred.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail, a strong ability to learn, and ability to manage complexity.
  • Experience in initiating investigations and implementing corrective actions preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as ability to be self-motivated and self-directed to seek out solutions to large facility problems
