Job Summary

Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge of advanced shipping and receiving procedures to perform all administrative and technical job functions. Uses all tools and operates all equipment necessary to ensure that parts and material are delivered or shipped from the shipping and receiving area to the proper areas or destinations.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

  • Performs assignments that are moderately complex to complex requiring experience and judgment relative to shipping and receiving of vendor, customer and company products. Determines plans and actions from standard procedural alternatives. May perform a variety of duties related to any work operation in the shipping and/or receiving area.
  • Verifies parts by matching packing slips with parts. Inputs material receipts into the computer system. Coordinates the delivery of received non-inventory products to the appropriate personnel or department. Tracks daily Heat-Treated lumber usage and inventory.
  • Receives customer-furnished materials and coordinates receipt of material with the appropriate department. Processes warranty items and initiates the Customer Return paperwork, and logs items into the database. Resolves receiving discrepancies and coordinates with Purchasing and Accounting to clear up receiving problems.
  • Prepares materials and parts for shipping by forecasting work assignments and assigning to appropriate personnel. Develops cut sheets with correct dimensions of crates. Proficient in operating an engine powered forklift, loading and unloading trucks, building crates, wrapping/packing parts and labeling boxes and instructing others in these procedures.
  • Prepares appropriate shipping paperwork and coordinates transportation according to customer requirements or preset transportation guidelines. Inputs materials shipped into the computer system.
  • Expedites the shipping of materials, including, but not limited to interpreting the materials planning, packing lists, freight bills, and shipment pick up through services, such as Federal Express Powership and UPS Teleship.

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirements

Minimum High School or GED.

If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.

Experience Requirements

7 year(s) Related experience and/or training,

year(s) Minimum of two (2) years experience in shipping, receiving, or warehousing.

Skills and Competencies

  • Operates a Forklift to load and unload trucks and move parts and materials around the plant.
  • Communicates effectively in both written and verbal form using electronic media, telephone and direct contact with internal and external personnel.
  • Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates competence in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make sound technical decisions and accomplish follow-up tasks in a timely manner.

Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can vary from loud to a more moderate level.
