Project Superintendent - Commercial Construction

Location: Concord, NC / Charlotte, NC Area Preferred

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 annually

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to oversee commercial tenant improvement construction projects. The ideal candidate will have 15-20 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent and the ability to independently manage projects, make executive decisions, and lead teams from start to finish.

This role will focus on a 10,000 sq. ft. commercial tenant improvement project and requires a strong leader who can collaborate with construction teams, subcontractors, engineers, architects, military personnel, and government representatives. The successful candidate will ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards.

Candidates located in the Concord, NC or Charlotte, NC area are preferred, but qualified candidates throughout the United States will be considered. Travel is not required; however, travel opportunities may be available depending on project needs.

Candidates must be able to pass a government background check and meet federal site requirements to obtain clearance for work on government projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction operations and manage project execution from start to completion
  • Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, architects, and project teams to determine project needs
  • Make independent decisions and resolve jobsite issues efficiently
  • Establish project goals, timelines, and performance expectations
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to leadership
  • Manage construction schedules and ensure deadlines are met
  • Ensure projects remain within budget and assist with cost management
  • Supervise crews, subcontractors, and onsite personnel while providing leadership and direction
  • Implement and maintain safety, quality control, and compliance standards
  • Coordinate inspections and assist with obtaining required permits
  • Manage submittal processes and project documentation
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and project communications
  • Order equipment, coordinate maintenance, and manage material inventory
  • Ensure job sites remain safe, organized, and compliant with regulations
  • Work closely with military and government personnel when required

Travel Requirements

Travel is negotiable and dependent on project needs. Candidates located more than 120 miles from the project site may qualify for travel support, including:

  • Transportation to and from project locations
  • Company-provided housing (hotel or apartment accommodations)
  • Daily transportation to and from job sites
  • $40/day per diem

Travel assignments may vary and typically range from 2-4 weeks on-site before returning home.

Requirements

  • 15-20 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar leadership role
  • Experience managing commercial construction projects, preferably tenant improvements
  • Experience working on secure government facilities is highly preferred
  • Ability to pass government background checks and federal drug testing requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Naturalized U.S. Citizen (contract requirement)
  • Must have a clean background with no felonies or disqualifying offenses
  • No history of substance abuse issues that would prevent clearance approval
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, processes, and jobsite management
  • Knowledge of construction safety, quality, and health standards
  • Experience managing project schedules and subcontractors
  • Knowledge of the submittal process
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Project)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage construction teams
  • Ability to organize traveling crews and coordinate project logistics
  • Experience managing project-related expenses, including rental cars, airfare, hotels, and direct costs

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction leader who can take ownership of a project, make critical decisions independently, and ensure successful project completion. This person should be organized, safety-focused, and comfortable communicating with multiple stakeholders while managing a fast-paced commercial construction environment.
