Patient Access Representative - Emergency Department Are you someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys helping people during critical moments? St. Joseph Hospital is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and customer-focused Patient Access Representative to join our Emergency Department team. As the first point of contact for patients and families entering the ER, you'll play a vital role in delivering an exceptional patient experience while ensuring accurate registration and insurance verification. What You'll Do * Register patients in the Emergency Department using mobile workstations (WOWs - Workstations on Wheels) * Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information * Update patient records accurately and efficiently * Assist patients and families with the registration process * Collaborate with clinical teams in a fast-paced trauma center environment * Deliver outstanding customer service during stressful and sensitive situations Schedule * Full-time * Four 10-hour shifts per week * Night shift schedule * Start times may begin at 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM * 30-minute meal period * Schedules are provided approximately one month in advance and reset every 28 days * Candidates must have open availability, as St. Joseph Hospital operates 24/7 Training * Initial training typically takes place during daytime hours for the first one to two weeks * Once training is completed, team members transition to their regular night shift schedule Ideal Candidate We're looking for individuals who: * Have excellent customer service and communication skills * Are reliable with strong attendance habits * Remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations * Are comfortable working on their feet for much of the shift * Can confidently interact with patients from diverse backgrounds during difficult circumstances Work Environment This role is based in a busy Emergency Department and Level II Trauma Center setting.
