POSITION SUMMARY - 10-month position with the months June and July off.

Guides students through career exploration and professional development and preparation from their first year through graduation. Coordinates programs and resources that prepare students for internships, graduate school, and careers, while partnering with faculty, staff, and community partners to connect classroom learning with meaningful career exploration and vocational discernment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college, will carry out your functions of your position in support of the College's Catholic Identity, mission and in support of Church teachings.
  • Advise and assist students individually and in groups with self-assessment, career exploration, career planning, decision-making, and internship/job search strategies.
  • Design and deliver programs on professional development topics such as resumes, cover letters, interviewing, professionalism, networking, and mock interviews.
  • Collaborate with Center for Experiential Learning colleagues to coordinate career-related programming and integrate experiential learning into students' educational goals.
  • Partner with academic departments, faculty, and campus offices to offer career programming and classroom presentations.
  • Develop, maintain, and share online resources that support career exploration and job searches.
  • Assist in the management of business contracts and operations for career management software.
  • Lead the collection, organization, and reporting of annual career outcomes data.
  • Support campus-wide efforts to enhance student employment by shaping on-campus jobs into pre-professional learning experiences.
  • Represent Loras College in professional associations and networks to strengthen career services.
  • Commitment to the College's mission and support for the Catholic liberal arts tradition.
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities of the position in support of the College's Catholic identity and mission in support of Church teachings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS



  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to support student growth and development towards self-awareness, career readiness, and vocational discernment.
  • Skilled in building relationships, fostering collaboration, and facilitating consensus across campus partners.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail and follow through.
  • Reliable, patient, and adaptable, with the ability to remain professional under pressure.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive environment that respects and supports individuals from all backgrounds.


EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required in an appropriate field; Master's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of experiencein career services, academic advising, counseling, higher education, or related field required. Experience guiding students/young adults in areas such as career exploration, job and internship search strategies, and graduate/professional school preparation preferred. Demonstrated ability to support students in vocational discernment and professional development.

SKILLS & ABILITIES



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort using career services software, databases, and web-based technologies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for engaging with students, faculty, staff, employers, and external partners.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and flexible in working across departments and constituencies.
  • Ability to develop and sustain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and employer partners.
  • Commitment to the value of liberal arts education and the role of experiential learning in student development.
  • Ability to support and respect the Catholic mission and liberal arts tradition of the College.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Experience in employer relations, career services, or student development.
  • Familiarity with career assessment tools, job search platforms, and labor market resources.
  • Event planning and program coordination experience.
  • Knowledge of best practices in vocational discernment and student career readiness.
  • Experience working in higher education or with diverse student populations.
