Position Title: Lab Tech
Work Location: North Chicago, IL 60064
Assignment Duration: 12 months (possible extension- performance based) Position Summary: This is an entry-level Lab Technician position within a biologics laboratory. The individual will work closely with a Project Lead and support scientists with their ongoing projects. Background & Context: This is a contract position. While extensions may be considered based on performance and headcount availability, the role is not being presented as a temp-to-permanent position. Candidates should be local and able to commute to the work site. Relocation is not recommended due to uncertainty around future headcount. Key Responsibilities:
Preparing solutions, performing general laboratory maintenance and upkeep, putting away glassware, ordering laboratory supplies, and maintaining laboratory inventory.
Accurately document experiments using electronic laboratory notebooks.
Understand and follow site SOPs, company policies, and documentation requirements.
As the individual becomes proficient in these responsibilities, they will support routine physical wet chemistry testing and progress to instrumentation-based techniques such as protein concentration and particle size testing.
Based on performance and proficiency, the individual may eventually support chromatography techniques, including HPLC.
Accurate documentation of experiments using electronic laboratory notebooks while following site SOPs, company policies, and documentation requirements.
Qualification & Experience:
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
Candidates should have basic laboratory skills, including solution preparation, weighing, and pH measurement.
Candidates should have basic computer proficiency, including experience using Microsoft Excel.
Candidates should be able to accurately document experiments using electronic laboratory notebooks.
Candidates should have an understanding of and the ability to follow site SOPs, company policies, and documentation requirements.
HPLC experience would be welcomed but is not required.
Experience with Empower chromatography software would be beneficial but is not required, as training will be provided.
Previous pharmaceutical industry experience would be beneficial.
