Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Pediatrics Riverside (Part-time)

Build a broad pediatric skill set while helping shape the future of a growing UVA Health clinic. Pediatrics Riverside offers the variety of primary care, same-day services, and specialty medicine in a collaborative setting where an experienced Certified Medical Assistant can make a meaningful contribution to children and families.

In this part-time role, you will support patients from newborn through age 18 across well visits, sick and follow-up care, vaccine administration, medication management, and chronic disease management. You will join an adaptable clinical team that values initiative, positivity, and shared responsibility while the practice continues to expand its services and culture.

The position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, with the potential to flex into additional hours when available. Clinic operations include weekday, evening, and weekend hours, and all team members contribute to weekend coverage. Scheduling preferences are considered when possible, while flexibility remains important as the practice grows and operating needs change.

The Role

As a Certified Medical Assistant at Pediatrics Riverside, you will help create a smooth, safe, and reassuring care experience for pediatric patients and their families. Each shift brings opportunities to apply core clinical skills, collaborate closely with providers, and support a wide variety of diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and visit types.

An average day may include:

• Rooming pediatric patients and gathering accurate intake information

• Obtaining and documenting vital signs

• Completing medication reconciliation

• Administering vaccines and supporting age-appropriate patient education

• Assisting providers with in-clinic procedures

• Performing point-of-care laboratory testing and phlebotomy

• Supporting well visits, sick visits, follow-up appointments, and chronic disease management

• Coordinating with providers and clinical colleagues to maintain efficient patient flow

• Contributing ideas and flexibility as clinic services and operations evolve
