Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer 3 will lead the business in areas of process improvement; daily production support; and project management of key programs. This role independently analyzes and interprets technical data (engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, etc.) and develops, optimizes, and standardizes shop routings, operations sheets, tooling, and manufacturing processes to ensure high quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery. This position is accountable for independently managing complex projects from concept through implementation, drives process capability, leads complex problem-solving efforts, and influences cross-functional teams to improve overall manufacturing performance with minimal supervision.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and standardize detailed instructions for the manufacture of complex products.
  • Analyze production data to identify systemic trends and independently lead resolution of complex manufacturing issues.
  • Provide advanced process control systems including instructions, standards, data collection and feedback loops.
  • Design and validate tooling and fixtures to support scalable and repeatable production needs.
  • Independently manage complex manufacturing and capital projects from concept through implementation, including scope, timelines, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Provide technical support to operations with minimal oversight.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions for complex quality and production issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer across the team.
  • Analyze production data and look for trends indicating potential problems and develop solutions for potential problems.
  • Provide process control systems in the form of instructions, standards, data collection and feedback loops.
  • Utilize PCC toolbox such as Lean Six Sigma in order to lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives and improve factory performance.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to independently manage complex projects from concept through implementation with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read documents such as safety rules, operating and manufacturing instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals in English.
  • Excellent computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • ERP system knowledge.
  • CAD or 3D modeling system operation knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to think spatially and creatively at an advanced level.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Must have proven experience in performing time studies and setting routing standards.
  • Ability to analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Proven high level of creative problem-solving ability.
  • Uses Inspection equipment: Calipers, Micrometers.

Required Experience:

  • 6+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Must have the ability to reason and arrive at conclusions with minimum help and have a basic understanding of statistics.
  • Advanced math skills including statistical analysis and trigonometry required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and CAD software (SolidWorks) required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate team work, collaboration, creativity, and innovation.
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.
  • Working knowledge and application of Lean Six Sigma.
  • Ability to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organization.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
  • CNC programming is a plus
  • Understanding of standard machining tooling is a plus (drills, taps, inserts, reamers, etc.)

Level of Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree required. Master's degree preferred.
