Primary Purpose

Performs routine and emergency EKG's per doctor's request to provide a diagnostic tool for diagnosis and treatment.

Education/Experience

  • Must have completed a Medical Assistant course that includes EKG OR must have six months of experience performing cardio graphic procedures.
  • Prefer six months in a large acute care healthcare setting.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience
  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Skills or Special Abilities
  • Must be able to identify the proper placement of electrodes for a 12-Lead EKG.
  • Must be able to perform 12-Lead EKG.
  • Must be able to utilize the MUSE (EKG Management System) for edit of EKGs prior to physician interpretation.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of computer workstation operations and the ability to use work processing and spreadsheet software in a Windows environment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of equipment in order to monitor its general working condition.
  • Utilizes creativity and innovation in attaining desired outcomes.
  • Uses a holistic approach and persists when solving problems.
  • Works in a highly organized manner, capturing and attending to details as well as the bigger picture.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency.
  • Synthesizes information and shares with a larger group.
  • Works effectively in an dynamic, fast paced environment.
