Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • A deep understanding of coding languages such as Java, JavaScript, ReactJS, NodeJS, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, CSS, and HTML
  • Proficient in API protocols (e.g., SOAP, REST) and authentication methods (PKI, OAuth, JWT), as well as experience with REST API development and system integration
  • Proficient in using Git for version control, including branching, merging, and pull request workflows

Position Summary
The Application Analyst Specialist will be a critical member of the Student Information Systems ( SIS) team, responsible for ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the SIS platform. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to support the institution's academic and administrative functions, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the SIS meets the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff. They should be sufficient in software development principles, including design patterns, code structure, programming languages, continuous integration, and deployments. The Student Information Systems ( SIS) Application Analyst Specialist will provide continued analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance services for Student Financials Applications as well as other system solutions as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Software development experience in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment.
  • Hands-on experience in Java, JavaScript, ReactJS, NodeJS, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, CSS HTML, responsive design and others as needed for specific job responsibilities.
  • Designing user-friendly, visually appealing interfaces using UX principles and methodologies.
  • Proficient in API protocols (e.g., SOAP, REST) and authentication methods (PKI, OAuth, JWT), as well as experience with REST API development and system integration.
  • Ability to stay current with UI development trends and integrate cutting-edge solutions.
  • Proficient in using Git for version control, including branching, merging, and pull request workflows.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like GitLab to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.

  • Provide technical leadership and support for SIS staff and core functional clients (Admissions, Registrar, Curriculum, Financial Aid, and Bursar) as needed to develop, enhance, and maintain services for various student information systems.
  • Assist colleagues with designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and maintaining application programs.

  • Design, code, test, create prototypes/mockups, implement and document complex programs, program modifications, or applications for the Student/Financial Aid system using coding languages such as Java, ReactJS, NodeJS, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, JavaScript, CSS HTML, and others as needed for specific job responsibilities.
  • Design graphic elements such as menus, tabs, widgets, as well as user-friendly, visually appealing landing pages to enhance user experience and usability.

  • Serve as senior level software architect and provide key application development support to custom applications, web services, and student system integrations such including APIs and others.
  • Provide support and assistance to developers and functional users with the isolation and resolution of software issues.

  • Coordinate efforts between SIS analysts and functional clients in planning, designing, testing, documenting and installing information systems.
  • Lead root-cause analysis, communicate options for resolution and provide recommendations to customer-facing technology problems.
  • Run and monitor tests on data interfaces to correct errors (sometimes time sensitive) and improve performance.
