Position Summary

SUMMARY:

The Senior NDT Instructor is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training programs to ensure personnel are effectively trained in compliance with ASNT standards (SNT-TC-1A) and industry requirements (NAS-410, ISO 9712). This role collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify skill gaps, align training initiatives with organizational goals, and manage complex training projects. The Senior Instructor also supports day-to-day student and client needs, including technical assistance, training administration, and maintaining learning platforms and related systems. Additionally, the role contributes to performance analysis and continuous improvement of training programs.



Responsibilities

KEY TASKS & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Design, develop, and continuously update training curriculum, materials, and instructional aids to align with current industry standards and best practices.
  • Deliver and facilitate training programs using effective adult learning methodologies and e-learning tools.
  • Assess trainee performance through examinations, online evaluations, and practical assessments.
  • Ensure all training content and delivery methods comply with applicable safety regulations, codes, and certification standards.
  • Prepare trainees for Level I and Level II NDT certifications and conduct technical interviews for inspector candidates.
  • Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to identify training needs, skill gaps, and strategic priorities.
  • Analyze training effectiveness and performance metrics to improve program outcomes and return on investment (ROI).
  • Provide daily support to students and clients, including assistance with course access, technical issues, and general inquiries.
  • Support administrative functions such as training coordination, sales assistance, purchasing support, and tracking division financials.
  • Maintain and support Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training-related website functionality.

Other work duties as assigned.



Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning development tools.
  • Advanced presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate training effectiveness, analyze performance data, and measure ROI.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Technical aptitude to support online platforms and troubleshoot user issues.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with qualification and certification standards such as NAS 410 and SNT-TC-1A.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and inspection standards such as ASME and API (510, 570, 653).
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) practices and methodologies.

EDUCATION:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in training, adult education, or instructional design.
  • Experience as an instructor or trainer in a technical or industrial environment is preferred.
  • Prior involvement in the development of classroom curriculum and training outlines is desirable.
  • Level III certification in at least one of the following NDT methodologies: RT, MT, PT, UT, VT, or Eddy Current, with hands-on experience as a Level II.
  • ASNT NDT Level III certification in one or more major methods is considered a strong asset.

Working Conditions

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is primarily performed in a hybrid environment, including office settings, classrooms, laboratories, and virtual/online platforms.
  • Frequent interaction with students, clients, and internal stakeholders via in-person sessions, video conferencing, email, and phone.
  • Regular use of computers, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other digital training tools for content delivery and administration.
  • May require occasional travel to client sites, training facilities, or industry events.
  • Work may involve managing multiple priorities, tight deadlines, and shifting training schedules.
  • Occasional extended work hours may be required to support course delivery, project deadlines, or client needs.
  • Exposure to technical training environments, including labs or workshops, where adherence to safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS & DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting while working on a computer or conducting virtual instruction.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while delivering in-person training sessions or facilitating practical exercises.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, operating instructional equipment, and handling training materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of training materials and equipment (typically up to 25 lbs).
  • Visual acuity required for preparing and reviewing training materials, presentations, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to move within classroom, office, or training environments to support instruction and student engagement.
