Hourly Pay Range:

$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant - Per Diem - Days Position Highlights:
  • Position: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant I
  • Location: Arlington Heights, IL - Northwest Community Hospital
  • Per Diem- Hours as needed
  • Hours: 7:30a.-4pm;
  • Weekends: Rotating 2 Saturdays per month required
  • Required Travel: no
  • Holidays: 1 Summer holiday (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day) and 1 Winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Years Day)

Job Summary Reporting to the Rehab Services Manager or Rehabilitation Supervisor with accountability to the Director and Team, and under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist, performs a variety of patient related activities in order to improve and maximize patient mobility and independent functioning within their physical limitations. What you will do:
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to treat, and care for patients in assigned area. Implements treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient. Interprets verbal and nonverbal communication of the patient.
  • Administers and instructs patients in performance of all aspects of the treatment plan, assessing the effectiveness of treatment using sound clinical judgment and consulting with Occupational Therapist in situations that are beyond the assistant's scope of practice.
  • Communicates treatment effects and changes in patient condition to the Occupational Therapist. Follows recommendations and modifies treatment appropriately.
  • Prepares and completes all patient records, billing and documentation according to departmental guidelines.
  • Involves the patient, family and caregivers in the plan of care, including post-discharge planning. Conducts patient/family education sessions and provides written home programs in consultation with the Occupational Therapist and considering the developmental needs of the patient.
What you will need:
  • Education: Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA accredited school, or the equivalent.
  • Certifications:
    • Current Illinois licensure or eligibility.
    • Certification by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
    • American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
  • Experience: Inpatient
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Inpatient
