Build the Future

At McGraw Hill, we are dedicated to delivering digital learning experiences that transform education for learners and educators. Our focus is on creating seamless, impactful products that truly benefit our users while supporting growth and collaboration across teams. We foster a culture that values innovation, teamwork, and a balance between career growth and personal well-being.

How can you make an impact?

You'll join the ALEKS Quality Assurance team as a critical Onshore Anchor. In this role, you are a guardian of the "ALEKS Standard," bridging the gap between our global contractor teams and our internal architecture. You will ensure our digital learning solutions remain resilient, accessible, and user-centric during high-stakes release cycles, serving as the final line of defense for product quality.

What you will do:

  • Fluent Execution & High-Quality Standards: Independently write and execute manual test cases (smoke, regression, functional) with minimal supervision. Partner with onshore peers and coordinate with global contractors to ensure consistent, accurate execution and clear defect reporting.
  • Anticipate Problem Areas: Demonstrate deep product foresight by going beyond specifications to identify UX gaps and hidden technical dependencies before they reach production.
  • Accessibility (A11y) Leadership: Own accessibility testing and requirements for your assigned features, ensuring all updates meet WCAG standards-a non-negotiable pillar of the ALEKS product.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior QA team members and contractors on ALEKS systems and QA processes to preserve and grow institutional knowledge.
  • Automation & Release Continuity: Support the automation team by reviewing reports and ensuring suite resilience during major Summer/Winter release cycles.
  • Documentation & Planning: Maintain high-quality QA documentation for new products and contribute technical QA perspectives to yearly planning and story sizing.
  • AI Innovation (Preferred): Leverage AI tools to assist in test case generation and process optimization, maintaining a "human-in-the-loop" approach to quality.

What can you bring to the role?

  • Technical Ecosystem:
  • Atlassian Mastery: Proficiency in Jira (dashboarding, advanced issue tracking) and Confluence (documentation management and knowledge synthesis).
  • Environment Management: Experience validating features across multiple environments (Dev, QA, Staging) and using Browser Developer Tools (Chrome DevTools, Safari Web Inspector) to isolate defects, inspect network traffic, and manipulate DOM elements. Experience with Postman for API validation is a plus.
  • Accessibility (A11y) Expertise:
  • Tooling: Proven ability to conduct accessibility audits using Evinced, JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.
  • Equivalent Experience: Proficiency in other industry-standard tools such as Axe DevTools, WAVE, Lighthouse, or ARC Toolkit is highly valued.
  • Standards: Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level A/AA compliance, including ARIA-live announcements, focus management, and color contrast requirements.
  • AI Fluency & Productivity [Highly Preferred]:
  • AI Adoption: Experience using Rovo AI to synthesize complex requirements and accelerate test case generation.
  • Equivalent Experience: Active professional use of ChatGPT Plus, Claude (Artifacts/Projects), GitHub Copilot, or Gemini to refactor test scripts, brainstorm edge cases, or summarize technical documentation.
  • Efficiency: Ability to leverage AI tools to maintain continuity and documentation clarity across distributed time zones.

What we mean by AI Fluency:
We don't just want you to use AI-we want you to use it to increase your velocity and improve quality. For example, you might use company-supported AI to draft a regression suite from a Jira Epic, generate edge-case test data, or capture and analyze patterns from failing automation test reports. We value a human-in-the-loop approach: AI does the heavy lifting in drafting and synthesis, and you provide the expert review and validation.

What we offer:
