This opportunity is for a Supervisor to oversee the Somerset County Supports Coordination Organization (SCO) providing leadership to ensure that approximately 350-400 individuals with an Intellectual Disability/Autism (ID/A) receive coordinated, person-centered services that promote stability, choice, and continuity of care. Through a comprehensive case management and advocacy approach this role supports individuals in accessing services that align with their strengths, preferences, and needs.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role oversees the daily operations of the Somerset Supports Coordination Organization (SCO) program, fostering a supportive and collaborative team environment. This Supervisor supports the professional growth of Supports Coordinators (SC's) (County Caseworkers) through individual and group supervision, helping staff build skills in identifying needs, engaging individuals and families, and connecting them to appropriate resources.

  • Reviews Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and provides ongoing guidance to SC's in completing documentation in a timely, thorough, and person-centered manner, while maintaining required records in accordance with SCO policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that services are delivered in alignment with agency values, regulatory requirements, and best practices in social services, with an emphasis on dignity, respect, and trauma-informed care.
  • Interprets and communicates current and emerging regulations, policies and procedures in a clear and supportive manner.
  • Provides technical assistance with systems such as Home and Community Services Information System (HCSIS) and Electronic Incident Management (EIM), supporting staff in understanding and responding to incidents with a focus on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepares for and participates in supervisory meetings and ensures timely, transparent communication with SC's and clerical staff. Coordinates the dissemination of information from the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP).
  • Ongoing quality assurance activities include reviewing case records and conducting file reviews.
  • Communicates clear expectations regarding productivity and documentation requirements, while recognizing the importance of balancing quality care with administrative responsibilities.
  • Monitors reports and overall productivity, working collaboratively with staff to make adjustments as needed. Reviews and assigns referrals.
  • Maintains a small caseload, including developing ISPs and completing ongoing monitoring, ensuring services remain responsive and person-centered.
  • May provide education and outreach to community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with leadership, assists in assessing community and provider needs, reviews waiting lists, contributes recommendations for program development or enhancement, and participates in the review of policies, procedures, and program planning documentation.
  • Recruits, interviews, and select staff, as well as supporting their onboarding and ongoing development.
  • Attends In-service-training(s) and performs other related duties as required.
  • Throughout all responsibilities, this role prioritizes creating an environment that promotes safety, trust, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural responsiveness for both individuals receiving services and staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands or in the event of an emergency.
  • Telework: Upon hire, new staff begin training and are on probation for six months. New staff may be eligible for a hybrid of on-site and remote work after three months of employment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
