Tharros is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, Computer Hardware to perform programmatic and technical leadership in the engineering development of modern complex systems supporting NAWCAD Cyber Warfare Division programs at NAS Patuxent River, MD. The Senior Systems Engineer identifies, formulates, designs, and tests practical solutions to engineering problems across the NAVAIR airborne platform set. This position guides the engineering development of advanced complex systems employing systems engineering methods and tools and may conduct research in applied systems engineering. The Senior SE also acts as a functional team lead for teams performing systems engineering functions.
- Conduct research into fundamental computer and information science as theorists, designers, or inventors
- Perform programmatic and technical leadership roles identifying, formulating, designing, and testing practical solutions to engineering problems
- Guide the engineering development of modern complex systems using systems engineering methods and tools
- Research, design, develop, or test computer or computer-related equipment for military use, including airborne platforms
- Conduct research in applied systems engineering to advance the field as appropriate
- May supervise the manufacturing and installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components
- Coordinate and oversee the tasking of other team members performing systems engineering functions.
- Track project progress and participate in planning projects, resourcing, and events.
- Integrate systems engineering outputs with cyber defense, vulnerability research, and authorization workflows
- Active TS, SCI Eligible
- 10 years of experience performing work related to computer hardware systems engineering; at least 3 years of the 10 within the last 5 years
- MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline
- ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: BS or BA in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related scientific discipline plus 4 additional years of recent and relevant experience (total 14 years required)
- 3 years of experience directly related to airborne systems
- Demonstrated knowledge in area of engineering expertise
