Description and Requirements

About Our Team

Lenovo is building Quantum, a next-generation hybrid AI platform that spans Windows, Android, and cloud. As part of this vision, we are expanding the AI Reliability Operations organization that powers Qira, Lenovo's cross-device Personal AI.

We are looking for an Operations Support Engineer to help us build the operational foundation that ensures Qira is fast, safe, and dependable for millions of users. Within the AI Reliability Operations team, this role is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying operational software solutions and tooling that meet the reliability and availability objectives of the AI platform. Everything this role builds exists to make operations more intelligent, consistent, and scalable.

Qira is operating with the speed, ownership, and creative latitude of a startup, yet supported by the scale, resources, and technical depth of Lenovo. We are building new systems, new tooling, and new operational models from the ground up, and we are doing so with clarity, intention, and high standards.

Location: Open to remote work in the US. Preferred work location is Chicago, IL.

What You'll Do

Operational Risk & Reliability

  • Serve as the primary operations liaison for change safety, code review triage, and incident management, owning the operational readiness process for every planned change, release, and maintenance window, including calendar tracking and cross-functional coordination.
  • Review upcoming changes and code deployments for operational risk, ensuring the right visibility, runbooks, and monitoring are in place before execution.
  • Drive incident response coordination, tracking issues from detection through resolution and feeding lessons learned back into operational processes.
  • Build and maintain the tooling and documentation that make these disciplines repeatable and auditable.

Process & Framework Development

  • Design and develop the operational processes, intake, runbook frameworks, and governance systems that define how day-to-day operations are executed consistently.
  • Continuously refine and improve frameworks based on operational feedback and incident learnings.

Ops Infrastructure Build

  • Design, develop, and deploy internal operational tooling, workflow systems, and automation solutions using AI-assisted development platforms like Cursor.
  • Build purpose-built applications and automation scripts that eliminate manual work, reduce operational risk, and improve team efficiency across the platform.

Build Operational Monitoring

  • Design and build dashboards and data visualization solutions that turn raw operational data into actionable intelligence.
  • Ensure the team and leadership have real-time visibility across support operations and services at all times.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a Technical Operations, NOC, or technical engineering role
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying automations, workflow systems, and integrations using modern development tools and AI-assisted platforms
  • Proficiency in scripting and lightweight application development using Python, Bash, or equivalent
  • Experience building and maintaining operational dashboards using Grafana, Datadog, or similar tools
  • Strong documentation and process design skills - you build things other people can follow and rely on
  • Familiarity with Linux fundamentals, log analysis, and system-level troubleshooting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience working with or alongside a 24/7 NOC or managed operations team
  • Knowledge of ITIL or formal change management frameworks
  • Exposure to AI/ML operational environments

What Success Looks Like

  • The operations function is built on a solid foundation of tooling, automation, and documented processes from day one
  • Day-to-day operations are executed with consistency and accountability
  • Dashboards give the team and leadership the visibility they need to act fast and make informed decisions
  • Change windows are well-coordinated and the team is never caught off guard
  • The operations function feels engineered, not improvised
The base salary budgeted range for this position is $130K - $150K. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
