The Shop Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, wiring, and repair of electrical panels according to production and engineering specifications. This position reports to the Manager, Operations. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all wiring is tagged, terminated, and secured in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
- Perform wiring modifications, repairs, and installations for electrical components and control panels.
- Assemble electrical enclosures and related systems following engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Mount and install electrical components within control panels.
- Fabricate and install light metal assemblies for larger panel systems.
- Fabricate light metal pieces for use in larger assemblies.
- Communicate effectively regarding issues with schematics, cabinet assembly, or point-to-point wiring.
- Verify engineering documentation to ensure correct and current revisions are used.
- Work closely with supervisors and leads to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Collaborate with supervisors and leads to ensure assignments are completed accurately and on time.
- Use a variety of hand, air, and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company standards.
- Participate in required training, meetings, and development programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Shop Tech 1
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least one (1) year of stable, relevant work experience in a manufacturing, shop, or warehouse environment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly and basic electrical drawings, symbols, and systems.
- Familiarity with electrical circuit design concepts and schematic interpretation.
- Proficiency in the use of common hand and power tools.
- Valid state-issued driver's license and eligibility to operate a company vehicle under company policy.
Shop Tech 2
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience wiring control panels or related assembly work.
- Ability to read and interpret moderately complex mechanical and electrical drawings, symbols, and systems.
- Proficiency in using hand, air, and electric tools safely and effectively.
- Attention to detail with the ability to produce clean and accurate wiring bundles.
- Valid state-issued driver's license and eligibility to operate a company vehicle under company policy.
Shop Tech Senior
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in wiring and assembling electrical control panels.
- Strong ability to interpret complex mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, and safe working practices.
- Proven leadership and mentorship experience within a manufacturing or shop environment.
- Valid driver's license and eligibility to operate a company vehicle per policy.
