Job Description

The Director, Financial Data Strategy and Analytics is a hybrid finance, analytics, and systems leadership role responsible for defining the firm's financial data strategy, analytics framework, and planning enablement as the organization scales toward $1B+ in revenue.

This role operates at the intersection of FP&A, data, BI, EPM, and corporate IT, guiding the alignment of financial and project data to support consistency, governance, scalability, and enterprise usability.

The role evolves a senior FP&A leader from hands-on analytics into a strategic leader of financial intelligence, supporting the continued development of Finance data and systems capabilities over time.

Responsibilities

Role Purpose (Growth-Critical)

As the firm grows in size, complexity, and geographic reach, this role enables Finance to scale insight and control without proportional increases in manual effort or headcount. The Director enables leadership to confidently manage utilization, margin, backlog, and long-range growth through trusted data, integrated systems, and standardized analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Data Ownership & Governance
    Own and govern enterprise financial and project data used across FP&A, operations, and executive reporting.
  • Establish standards and governance processes to ensure consistency and reliability of financial data across systems.
  • Define and maintain standards for Project structures, cost classifications, and labor categories.
  • Establish durable data governance processes that scale through growth, system changes, and acquisitions.
  • Transition finance from reactive data cleanup to upstream data quality and control.
  • Serve as the primary steward within Finance for aligning data, analytics, and system capabilities with business and operational needs.
FP&A Enablement & Strategic Insight
  • Partner with Finance leadership to enable scalable planning, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
  • Guide the development of data models that support forecasts, margin sensitivity analysis and growth scenarios.
  • Support executive and board reporting with consistent, trusted, and timely insights.
  • Ensure finance analytics align with strategic priorities and growth initiatives.
BI & Analytics Leadership
  • Own BI strategy, standards, and adoption across Financial Operations.
  • Enable data-driven financial decision-making through consistent, governed analytics.
  • Establish governance over reporting logic, definitions, and metric standardization across Finance and Operations.
  • Ensure alignment between BI outputs and financial reporting standards used in executive and operational decision-making.
EPM & Finance Technology Ownership
  • Define the roadmap for EPM platforms supporting planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Partner with Finance IT and Corporate IT to improve system usability, integration, and overall effectiveness.
  • Guide the prioritization of enhancements and process improvements to reduce manual workflows and increase scalability.
  • Lead finance requirements and business alignment for system enhancements, upgrades, and vendor partnerships.
Enterprise Data Architecture & Integration
  • Provide strategic direction for financial data architecture connecting ERP, CRM, and HR systems.
  • Partner closely with Corporate IT on:
    • Data pipelines and integrations
    • Cloud data platforms
    • Security, controls, and scalability
  • Act as Finance's primary advocate in enterprise system and data decisions ensuring alignment between financial data requirements and enterprise data architecture priorities.
Leadership & Team Evolution
  • Provide strategic direction on prioritization of finance-related system and data initiatives to ensure alignment with business and operational objectives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Finance, IT, and business leadership on data and analytics matters.
  • Mentor finance and analytics talent toward hybrid FP&A / data skillsets.
  • Collaborate with Finance IT, BI, and analytics resources to align priorities, sequencing, and delivery of system and data initiatives.
  • Influence and support the evolution of finance systems and data capabilities as the organization matures. Execution of system maintenance, issue resolution, and technical delivery remains the responsibility of Finance IT and supporting technology teams.
  • Support the continued evolution of Finance data, analytics, and system capabilities, including potential expansion of team structure as needs grow.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in FP&A, financial analytics, finance systems, or data leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of projectbased financials and professional services economics (A&E preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools, EPM platforms, and financial data models.
  • Proven ability to bridge finance, data, and IT disciplines.
Preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree in a related field.
  • Experience with multientity environments and acquisition integration.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms and enterprise analytics architectures.
