Summary of Position Functions

The Solar Racking Laborer is responsible for assembling and installing the structural mounting systems (racking) that support solar panels. This is a physically demanding outdoor role perfect for someone who enjoys manual labor and wants to break into the renewable energy industry.

Essential Position Functions

• Assembly: Build and bolt together steel and aluminum racking components according to engineering blueprints.
• Staging: Unload delivery trucks and organize heavy materials (rails, clamps, posts) across the job site.
• Site Prep: Use basic hand and power tools to measure, level, and secure foundation posts or ballast blocks.
• Panel Support: Assist installers by lifting and positioning solar modules onto the completed racking system.
• Safety & Maintenance: Keep the job site clean and organized to prevent accidents and ensure all tools are properly stored.
• Follows company safety policies.

Education and Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.
• Previous experience in construction, roofing, or landscaping.
• OSHA 10 certification is a major plus.
• Ability to work at heights or on sloped roofs (if applicable).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and work on your feet all day in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wind).
• Tool Savvy: Experience with basic tools like impact wrenches, levels, tape measures, and socket sets.
• Reliability: You show up on time, every time, and have dependable transportation to job sites.
• Team Spirit: A "get it done" attitude and the ability to follow instructions from lead installers.
• Safety First: A commitment to wearing PPE and following OSHA guidelines.
