We are the User Authentication team within Identity and Network Access, building and operating the authentication platform for all Microsoft's cloud: Azure, Microsoft 365, Xbox, or Dynamics. Our platform covers the full spectrum of authentication scenarios (consumer, enterprise, B2B, CIAM, user like agents, digital workers). These massive services provide sign-in user experience for billions of users accessing Microsoft Cloud's services. This role will partner across IDNA, Microsoft Security, and broader engineering teams to establish durable, secure-by-default foundations and modernize how we build and operate authentication services with agentic workflows.We encourage experimentation and rapid prototyping-innovation days and hackathons are part of our team's culture. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer - Architect to enable Secure Velocity systems as well as introduce durable constructs for shipping authentication capabilities. Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
