Introduction

The Clerk of the Circuit Court is a constitutional officer, and the duties of this office are mandated by the Code of Virginia. The Clerk's Office provides multiple statutory and local services for residents, business professionals, legal professionals, judges, public safety officials, a variety of state and local government agencies, and the towns of Loudoun County. The Clerk of the Circuit Court serves as the recorder of deeds and probate judge, issues marriage licenses and is the official court administrator for all civil and criminal court cases. In this latter capacity, the Clerk creates and maintains all court files and records, prepares court orders and jury lists, contacts jurors and issues summons and court processes.

Job Summary

The Clerk of the Circuit Court is seeking a qualified applicant to work in a part-time temporary position, with no benefits, on a project to convert paper court records to digital format for storage and use on computers. This position will scan documents at the County's Offsite Records Management Center located in Leesburg, VA. This position will be part of a team that will be responsible for scanning paper records; indexing the records using prescribed document type codes and conducting verification of successful image conversion; conducting quality assurance of all scanned documents to confirm the digital images are readable, clear and retrievable in the computer system, in accordance with prescribed image conversion standards; retrieving court files; maintaining proper court file organization; transporting and providing court files to office staff at least once a week; and returning all court files to the proper location in a records management shelving system.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of related clerical/administrative work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Will require use of a 7 Step Angle Rolling Ladder and be able to lift up to 30lbs. Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required.
