ITA is seeking a summer intern to join our Quality team at our headquarters in Newport News, Virginia.



Responsibilities

ITA is hiring a summer Quality intern to gain hands-on experience with compliance, process improvement, and data-driven decision-making.

Interns will be responsible for the following duties:

    Work on real projects that improve how a growing defense contractor operates-across data, technology, and business processes.
  • Support ISO, CMMI, and CMMC certification efforts by gathering control requirements, validating with stakeholders, and maintaining documented information in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Support internal audit preparation by organizing evidence, validating control implementation, and tracking corrective actions and POA&M items.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (IT, Security, Quality, Operations) to ensure alignment of processes, controls, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze operational and risk data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support configuration and data management practices by ensuring accuracy, version control, and integrity of key compliance artifacts.
  • Help document work-flows and processes so teams can execute consistently and scale effectively.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen quality, cybersecurity, and overall business performance.
  • Build dashboards and lightweight tools (Power BI, Power Apps, Excel, or similar) that help leaders make faster, data-driven decisions.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership in a clear, concise manner.


Qualifications

  • Majoring in Business Information Technology (BIT), Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work across teams
  • Interest in building tools, working with data, and improving how organizations operate
  • Experience with Excel, Power BI, Power Apps, Python, or similar tools is a plus
