Job Description
The FSQA Lead is responsible for overseeing the activities of the FSQA Technicians I & II. This individual will lead, coach and mentor team members to identify and suggest process improvements and organize all aspects of the quality control process to ensure the product being produced is compliant will all applicable specifications. This individual will be proficient in all job functions of the FSQA Technicians I & II. This position may assume the responsibility of the Supervisor in their absence. The position reports to the FSQA Supervisor.


Job Duties:


  • Enforce Westrock policies and Food Safety & Quality Management System requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and train FSQA Technicians; assist with onboarding.
  • Manage daily task assignments and execution of duties for technicians.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, GMPs, and quality control programs.
  • Oversee QA lab operations and perform equipment calibration and verification.
  • Verify BOMs and conduct Supersack testing (particle & color analysis).
  • Confirm pallet counts and lead sensory evaluations.
  • Collect retain and third-party samples as required.
  • Inspect raw materials, WIP, and finished products for compliance with specifications (color, moisture, density, grind, weights, packaging integrity, brewing performance).
  • Accurately record test results in the quality database.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming goods; test products on hold.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards for a clean, safe, GMP-compliant environment.
  • Serve as backup to FSQA Supervisor when necessary.
  • FSQA Supervisor Job Functions:
  • Manage quality support programs such as:

    • Customer Complaints, including investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation & verification.
    • Non-Conforming Product program
    • 3rd Party testing
    • Customer required sampling & testing programs

Qualification
Required Qualifications:


  • 3 years QA related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in quality inspection, testing, data collection, leadership teamwork, and organizational skills.



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Formal education is preferred in a science discipline.
  • Experience with Food Safety manufacturing requirements including GMPs, Pest Control and other pre-requisite programs.
  • PCQI/HACCP certification preferred.
  • Excellent listening and analytical skills.
  • Competent computer skills
