Summary

The MIL Corporationis seeking aNetwork Engineer (Network Engineering, Senior Analyst) to support a Federal Government client at our Patuxent River, MD location.TheNetwork Engineer will provide support to the government client and interface with RDT&E and other support organizations. TheNetwork Engineer will apply system engineering and computer networking principles to the development, design and integration of hardware and software systems associated with local, regional and wide area networks and systems that process and route voice, video, data, and imagery information.

This position currently requires an on-site schedule, with 5 days on-site and is eligible for Compressed Work Schedule (CWS). Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review detailed network designs and network configurations to ensure consistency with the architecture, as well as gain insight into optimizing network architectures based on real-world applications
  • Create, update, and maintain system level baseline documentation to include block diagrams, Simple Network Diagrams (SND), Detailed Network Diagrams (DND), and router & switch configuration Templates
  • Implement network and operating System Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to secure all aspects of the network. Assist in providing IATT and ATO packages for labenvironments
  • Provide engineering expertise and troubleshooting skills to solve problems and restore reliability to the network and associated systems
  • Provide inputs to the Weekly Network Report and program data calls
  • Conduct research and testing on the latest state-of-the-art information technologies
  • Support customer's briefings and design reviews, and work independently in a multi-tasking environment

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience configuring, installing, supporting, and maintaining network hardware and software infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, gateways, and related components.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of LAN/WAN system administration experience, including network security, systems maintenance, performance monitoring, requirements analysis, resource scheduling, configuration management, and documentation management; includes significant Layer 1 and strong Layer 2 switching expertise.
  • Experience monitoring and controlling network performance and status using software and hardware tools, and diagnosing complex issues affecting network performance.
  • Experience performing routine preventative maintenance, maintaining and monitoring network security, and ensuring corporate and DoD security compliance.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional IT teams and supporting infrastructure-related projects, including planning and implementing future IT development.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Cisco-based routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
  • Possess broad knowledge of network devices and technologies, including Cisco and Brocade switches/routers, firewalls, and KG175 encryption devices.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in TS/SCI and SECRET/COLL airborne and terrestrial tactical and enterprise networks.
  • Deep understanding of MULTIINT system interfaces with the ability to serve as a lead integrator in rapid prototyping and technology evaluation environments.
  • Expert knowledge of airborne SIGINT system operations and interdependencies supporting Tier3 mission environments.
  • Expert understanding of advanced national and airborne dissemination concepts and methods supporting tactical and national consumers.
  • Strong knowledge of the national intelligence community, Joint Commands, DoW organizational structures, mission functions, and operational relationships.
  • Strong understanding of Distributed SIGINT Operations (DSO) in airborne environments.
  • Possess at least one current professional networking certification (Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or Brocade/Ruckus).
  • Must possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or be able to obtain within 90 days of start.
  • DoD 8140 CSWF certification (Cloud+ or Security+) within 60 days of start.
  • Ability to develop and write highquality Standard Operating Procedures and technical documentation, including network diagrams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to support missioncritical systems located in multiple facilities during extended flight and ground testing.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule, including occasional weekends.
  • Must be able to move/lift up to 50 lbs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience supporting DREN and/or DISA networks
  • Knowledge of Government/DoD/Navy IT Laws, Regulations and Policies to the fleet
  • Experience with Navy IT practices and procedures
  • VTC and VoIP experience
  • Familiarity with the Patuxent River RDT&E network infrastructure
  • Knowledge and experience with SolarWinds products

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education and/or advanced certification

Clearance

For this position, the projected compensation range is $100,000 - $175,000 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL's complete compensation package.
