Job Summary:

The Department of Pathology (DOP), University of Colorado Anschutz seeks a full-time junior to senior faculty member with expertise in gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreaticobiliary (GI/liver) surgical pathology, at the rank of Assistant Professor to Professor to join the team of seven academic GI/liver surgical pathologists based at the affiliated 925 bed University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) located in metro Denver. The Department of Pathology provides professional and technical anatomic pathology services to UCH and affiliated clinics using a subspecialty sign out model. The GI/liver service reports on 19,000 cases per year, including advanced endoscopic interventions, complex oncologic resections, and transplantations. While the primary clinical focus of this position is in GI/liver surgical pathology, secondary clinical interests in other areas of anatomic pathology will be accommodated. Faculty engage in scholarship, through collaborative scientific investigations and/or through the development of their own research programs. Faculty teach in the 25 seat Combined Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology Residency Program, 11 pathology fellowship programs (including a 2 seat GI/Liver Pathology Fellowship Program), affiliated clinical residency and fellowship programs, medical school, and other graduate health programs. Faculty are part of a multidisciplinary team, including other pathologists, technical staff, and non-pathologist providers; thus, strong communication and professionalism skills are necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

* Promote quality patient care through the sign out of routine and complex gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreaticobiliary cases from UCH and affiliated clinics as well as consulting institutions, pathologists, and patients.

* Adherence to the quality standards and regulatory requirements associated with the anatomic pathology, the molecular pathology, and the cytogenetics laboratories, as well as UCH and affiliated clinics

* Ensure timely completion and accurate reporting of pathology tests associated with your practice, consultations, or translational research.

* Consult with peer pathologists on cases as requested or required by policy.

* Participate in the education of pathologists and affiliated non-pathologist providers through consultations, including at multidisciplinary clinics, and the application and education associated with test interpretation.

* Train and supervise pathology and non-pathology students, residents, and fellows.

* Engage in scholarly activities as broadly defined by the School of Medicine, including the scholarship of application, teaching, integration, and discovery.

* Maintain exemplary professionalism and continue to develop collaborative relationships with the pathology community and non-pathology providers.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora (metro Denver), CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

* Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent) with residency training in anatomic pathology.

* American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic Pathology and completion of fellowship training in GI/liver pathology or extensive relevant experience in GI/liver pathology.

* 0-5 years of experience.

Associate Professor:

* Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent) with residency training in anatomic pathology.

* American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic Pathology and completion of fellowship training in GI/liver pathology or extensive relevant experience in GI/liver pathology.

* 5-10 years of experience.

Professor:

* Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent) with residency training in anatomic pathology.

* American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic Pathology and completion of fellowship training in GI/liver pathology or extensive relevant experience in GI/liver pathology.

* 10+ years of experience.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $255,000 to $280,000

Associate Professor: $275,000 to $370,000

Professor: $315,000 to $420,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
