Director, Application Development – (job location is Quincy, MA; employer is Santander Holdings USA, Inc.) - Analyze and understand the architecture of the existing Core Banking platform to inform the design of scalable and robust technical solutions. Define and assess both minimum and desired requirements for the target platform to ensure business continuity, regulatory compliance, and future growth. Lead the integration of new technologies into the current infrastructure, while planning and executing the migration to next-generation systems. Design and develop new banking products, ensuring their full integration into the evolving Core Banking platform. Manage complex data, system, and process migrations, including validation, transformation, and deployment activities. Contribute to the integration of enterprise-wide solutions and ensure alignment with corporate technology standards. Develop customized local solutions tailored to regional or business-specific needs. Maintain existing Core Banking applications and provide incident management and technical support to ensure uninterrupted operations. Requirements: Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or Engineering (Computer or Software) (will accept 2 years of experience as Core Banking application product manager in banking sector in lieu of Bachelor’s), plus an additional four years of experience in position offered or as Core Banking application product manager. Four years of the required experience must have included: structuring and leading phased migrations (assessment, testing, deployment and rollback strategies) of legacy banking systems (COBOL, AS/400, Oracle Forms, monolithic applications) into modern architectures including microservices, APIs, containerization (Docker and Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure and GCP); driving seamless integration of banking channels (digital, branch, back office) into the Core Banking system, enabling unified customer experiences and operational efficiency; managing systems integration with middleware, ETL tools, messaging platforms (Kafka and MQ), REST/GraphQL APIs; migrating legacy databases to modern SQL/NoSQL environments; managing large-scale data migrations while ensuring security, integrity, accuracy and traceability; analyzing and explaining risks, dependencies and technical solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders; ensuring system compliance with FED and Central Bank regulations in all affected geographies; overseeing end-to-end product lifecycle management, from initial design and requirements gathering to deployment and continuous improvement, using Agile delivery practices; managing direct report team of at least 2 professional software developers/engineers; and managing operational and technology risk through proactive incident handling, real-time system monitoring, and root cause resolution. #LI-DNI.
